The meeting of the Young People's
League of the United Church was held
Tuesday evening and was m charge
of Miss Ethel Murdock and presideel
over by Miss Nettie Pepper. The
meeting was opened :by the singing
of a hymn after which Mr. Sinclair
led in prayer. The Scripture lesson
was read by Miss Mildred McDonald
and the topic was very ably given by
Miss J. Johnson on "Missions." A trio
instrumental by Mildred Smillie, Pearl
Elder and Florence McDonald and a
solo by Miss E. Pybus were all well
rendered.
Council Meeting—The regular mon-
thly meeting of the council was held
on Tuesday evening with all the mem-
bers present, The minutes of the last
meeting were read and adopted. Fire
chief Bates was present and interview-
ed the council as to having the use of
the town hall for calling the firemen
together for practise and to arrange a

struck a responsive chord in every

ing advantage of the few fine days
and are finishing taking up potatoes,
and roots and a few are finishing har-
vesting their beans which they were
