PHONE 257 Mr-, and Mrs. Hillen: Celebrate Their Diamond Wedding On New .Year's day Mr. and Mrs, James Hillen, McKillop, received the 'liearty congratttlattort ;, of their fam- ily and friends far and near, the happy occasion being the sixtieth an- niversary of their wedding. A pleas- ant afternoon was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Robert Archibald, James street, when twenty-two mem- bers of the . family were present, including. ten grandchildren, the only absent being Lieut. Harvey Dor- rance, wife and little daughter, of Carragana, Sask. Other relatives present from a distance were Mr, and. Mrs, J. J. Killen, of Detroit, Mrs, Andrew Sharpe and 'Mr. and Mrs, James Partridge, of Toronto. The afternoon was spent in music, remin- iscences and games:" A'purse of gold was presented to the happy couple by their grandson, Harvey Hillen,-his sister, Miss Edith Hillen; reading the address. Mr, ad Mrs, Hillen are both natives of Clark township, Durham county, bfr, Hillen, who is in his ninetieth year, is a son of the date Mr. and Mrs. John Hillen of Clark township, and Mrs. Hillen is in her 81st year, and was formerly Mlss Elizabeth Madill. They were united in mar- niage on January 1st, 1866, by Rev. I R. S. Mullin, at Newtonville. Two years later they came to McKillop, settling on the 10th Concession on the farm now occupied by their son, Calvin. In 1903 they retired to their present beautifully situated ]torte on. the North gravel road by the banks of rhe Maitland river Mr. and Mrs. Hillen are both char..' ter members of Caven •church, Win- throp, and Mr. Hillen has been an - elder of his church during the whole fifty years of its existence. In 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Hillen celebrated their golden wedding, The,living,members of the family are Calvin and Mrs. James Morrison of McKillop; Mrs. James Kerr and Mrs, Robert Archi- bald, of Seaforth. Mrs. Fisher, of Goderich, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Butt. Mr. and Mrs. B. Rising, Lavada Rising, Mrs. Haigh, Sr., and James Kerr visited at the home of Mr. John Webster; Centre street, on New Year's day. Mr. and Mrs. McCowan, of Rox- boro, entertained a few of their friends at a watch party on New Year's Eve. • Mr. John Butt of Flint, and Mr. Roy Butt, of Detroit, Mich., spent the holiday with their parents, Mn.; and Mrs. Wm, Butt, of town. Mrs. Turner and Miss Jean Turner returned to Toronto on Thursday after spending the Christmas holidays in town. The following gives a summary o' the hog industry of Huron County for the year 1925, both the number of hogs shipped 'and the grading of the hogs concerned: 23,463 Total! 08 per? e9 t.); 4; select h thick smooth 45,141 (58.56 p.c.); heavies 3,24: (4.19 p.c.); extra heavies 235 (.307 p.c.); shop hogs 3,107 (4.01 p.c.), lights and feeders 1,089 (1.39 p.c.). roughs 63 (.079 p.c.); sows• No. 1. 178 (.23 p.c.); Sows No. 2,, 1,31x:. (1.69 p,c.); stags I56 (.19 p.c.). With reference to hogs it ill b noted that practically 78,000 hag - were marketed from the county its the past year. At an average marker value of twenty-two dollars this give- a valuation of $1,716,000. The per- centage of selects night also bsr noted. The premium being paid for Selects is at possibly an average of something better than two dollars per head. It would mean that ap proximately $50,000 extra was dis tri'buted amongst the farmers of Huron County for hogs coming its this grade.
