The auction sale of the household
-effects of Mr. Wm. Beavers took place
onSaturday afternoon with Mr. Arth-
ur Weber of Dashwood as auctioneer.
Everything was sold and brought fair
prices. Mr. Beavers recently sola his
property to Mr. Frank Coleman of
Stanley and expects for a time to re-
side with his daughter, Mrs. Alex.

followed by a reading by Miss Elva

Gladys Passmoe and Grace Brock,
after which a reading was givens by
Miss Margaret Habkirk. The topic
was very ably taken by Mrs. Hugh
'MdEwan and the meeting ,closed with
a prayer and the Mizpeh (benediction.

very fine addresses in the Carmel
Treshyterian Church ' on Sunday last

Painful Accident.
IA son of Mr. Wm. Cooper happen-
ed with a very painful accident on
(Saturday at the Seaforth Woollen
Mills where he was employed. He had
been oiling some of the machinery
and in some way had the misfortune
to have his arm caught in it. The arm
was terribly bruised and cut. A doctor
was immediately summoned and the
lad removed to his home where he
was attended. Itis thought he will lose
-the proper use of the arm as it was
badly shattered.

will occupy the residence which he re-

Attending Shoot.
Mr, John Dodds of the Seaforth
Pop Works, left. on Wednesday for
Montreal, to attend the anneal meet-
ing of the Indian 'Shooting- aub.
High Stepper at Beechwood.
(A case of "the cow jumped over the
moon" occurred in this burg last
week at ibtr. Matthew Lacey's. One of
,Matt's cows was undergoing a critical
operation when suddenly ,she became
enraged, getting out of the Yard,
jumped over fences and everything
else that came in her way, for about
!five miles around. Of course Matt.,
'who is always on the alert, took to
the track, keeping the animal always
in view, although she did pace at the
rate of two miles in three minutes,
(After a few hours of exertion Matt
succeeded in lassooing her and led her
home as .quiet as a lamb ."Hurrah for
the races Matt"
An Irishman was 'celebrating
his 90th anniversary. His friends *ere
congratulating him, but one ,of them
pointed out that in the natural order
of events he couldn't expect to live
much longer. "I don't know about'
that," he replied. "I have been looking
over the records and 'I ,find that very.
