Mr. E. L. 31ickle was in Highgate
on Monday attending the funeral of
his cousin, the late .lir. Frank Tape.
Hiss Marguerite McDonald has re-
sumed her position in London fol-
lowing a pleasant vacation in New
York.
Mrs. Letitia Sangster, who has
been seriously ill in Clinton Hospital,
is somewhat improved.
Autumn flowers made a lovely
setting for the Fall Anniversary ser-
vices held in 'Chiselhurst United
Church, Sunday, afternoon and
evening, October 2nd. Vital and
stirring messages were given by
Rev. H. Mahoney, of Exeter, who
was guest speaker for the occasion.
During the afternoon service Rev.
Brook assisted.
The regular choir and leader, Mr.
G. T. Wren, assisted by Mr. and
Mrs. H. W. Horton, rendered the
anthems "The Heavens Rejoice" and
"What God -Hath Promised". Mr. S.
G. Rennie, soloist, sang most effic-
iently "The Sacred Flame", while at
the evening service Mr. T. J. Sher-
ritt acceptably offered the solo "The
Stranger of Galilee'. Rev. Mahoney
provided two enjoyable piano accor-
dion numbers. "My Own Dear Land"
and "The Olcl Rugged Cross"; Miss
Gladys Luker presided at the piano.
The successful services were largely
attended.
Owing to Thanksgiving, the
Monthly Auxiliary meeting takes
place at the home of Miss M. Ellis,
on Tuesday night, October llth.
Mrs. P. McNaughton will assist the
hostess. The devotional period will
be taken by Mrs. A. Hyde, Mrs. J.
Co.bett will give the Missionary
item; Mrs. B. Kyle, the study chap-
ter, Mrs. Mary Buchanan, Mrs. W.
Smale, Mrs. J. Traiquair and Gladys
Luker form the social committee.' A
large attendance is urged. Members
are reminded to have ready their
aprons in answer to the roll call.

lesson, Isaiah 40: 3-4. Hymn 249
was then sung. A poem entitled
"September" was then read by Mrs.
L. Peck. Mrs. Ross Broadfoot then
favored with a piano instrumental.
The study "In Kenton Delta" was
given by Mrs. Thos. Kay Hymn No.
376 was then sung. Mrs. Elgie pro-
nounccil the Benediction. A dainty
lunch was served by Circle No. 8.

The W. A. held a business meet-
ing at the close of the W.M.S. meet-
ing with the president, Mrs. R. H.

Mr, and Mrs, Peter Taylor re-
turned home a short time ago after
spending five weeks in the west,
going as far as Vancouver. While
away they visited his three brothers,
Hugh, Nelson, and John, and their
families.
Mrs. Wallace (Tine) Allen left
Tuesday of last week for Saskatoon
where she has a good position in a
hospital after holidaying for three
weeks, part of which shespent at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allen
Mr. James Watt returned home
last week from the West.
There will be no service in Burns'
Church, Sunday, Oct. 9th and 16th
as Constance holds their anniver-
sary services on the 0th and Londes-
bo1'c on the 16th.
Burns' Church held their anniver-
sary services on Sunday last with
Rev. A. W. Gardiner, of Egmonfiville
in charge of both services. We wish

anniversary a success.
