to Victoria Hospital, London, owing

'.Che funeral of the late Mrs. Win.
Rathwell, a former resident of Stan-
ley township, was held from the
United Church. Varna, Friday after-
noon. Mrs. Rathwell had been living
with her granddaughter at Windsor
for some time.
Mrs. J. Ferguson, Sudbury, who
has been holidaying at the home of
her parents Mr. and Mrs, 34. Elliott,
is at time of writing in Clinton hos-
pital after an appendix operation.

On Friday evening last Mrs. Har-
old Elliott had the misfortune to
have her leg broken while milking a
cow which was of a nervous' temper
ament. Mrs. Elliott was knocked
over and tramped on by the fright-
ened animal. Dr. Oakes, Clinton,
set the broken limb and Mrs. Elliott
was permitted to go to her -home and -
at time of writing is getting along
nicely.

Mrs. Dave Elliott and granddaug-
hter, Clinton, visited her brother

from a heart condition. Deceased
was born in McHiilop, near Seaforth
on April 11, 1864, and later moved
with his parents to Morris. Township.
On June 20, 1894, he married Mar-
garet Duffield Hamilton, daughter
of the late Ma. and Mrs. Henry
Hamilton. By this union there were
two sons and t wo daughters, How-

mourn, his wife and family, also
three brothers and three sisters,

wile (Mrs. Charles Pollard) and Miss
Jennie A., all of Walton community.
The funeral service was conducted
by Rev. John Herr, pastor of St.
George's Church: Walton, of which
the deceased was a member. During
the service, Mrs. Herb Travis and
Mrs. Harold Sellers sang a duet
"Beyond the Sunset". The pallbear-
ers were three nephews and three
neighbours, Harold Bolger, George
Pollard, Mark Hamilton, Donald Bu-
chanan, Stewart Humphries and
George Ramsay.
The flowerbearers were eight
grandchildren, Lois Bolger, Irwin,
Harry and Roma Johnston, Olive
Dundas a nd Marilyn, Jim and Rose-
malie Bolger.
The floral tributes were beautiful
which showed the esteem in which
the deceased was held. Interment
was in Brussels cemetery.
Misses Erma Walters and Kath-
leen Roe have returned from ,a trip
to Brockville and the Thousand Is-
lands.

Mrs. William Rathwell'
A funeral service was held at
Varna United Church July 29th
for Mrs. William Rathwell of
Windsor, 'who died at her home
here on Tuesday after a lengthy ill-
ness. She was born at Bayfield and
moved to Windsor 10 years ago. The
body was taken to the Ball Brothers
funeral home 'at Clinton, Thursday.
Mrs. Rathwell was a member of
Varna United Church. She is surviv-
ed by a daughter, Mrs. Albert
(Alma) Chivers.

1045. The Municipal Council has agreed to
submit such proposed by-law to the electors
of the Town - of. Seaforth to obtain. the assent
of the electors for the leaning of '.Forty
Thousand-Dollas ($40,000.00) of -debentures
on the credit of the Corporation for the Inn`
pose of constructing and equipping a Sea -
forth and District Community Memorial Re-
creation Centre.
It the assent of the electors is obtained
to the By-law the same shall be taken into
consideration by the Council after the expir-
ation of one month from the date of the first
publication.
This By-law shall be first published on the
21st day of July, 1949.
The vote for and against the said By-law
shall be taken on the 10th day of August,
1949, during the hours between 10 a.m. and
6 p.m. Daylight Saving Time, at the follow-
ing places:
Polling Subdivisions Nos. 1 mrd 2 at Teall's
Garage. '
Polling Subdivisions Nos. 8 and 4 at Public
Library,
Polling Subdivisions Nos. 5 and 6 et
Cardno's Store.' - .
The Mayor, or the member of .the Council
aPPo,nted for that purpose by resolution,
shall attend at the Town Hall on the 12th
day of August, 1949, at the hour of three
o'clock in the afternoon, for the purpose, if
requested so to do, of appointing by writing
signed by Lim, two persons to attend at the
final summing up of the votes by the Clerk
and one person to attend lit each polling
place on behalf of the persons interestedin,
and ilesiroua of promoting, the proposed: be-

A By-law to authorize the issuing
of debentures for $40,000.00 for
the construction and equipping of
a Seaforth and District Commun-
ity Memorial Recreation Centre on
the Seaforth Agricultural Grounds
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation
of the Town of Seaforth has agreed to sub-
mit to the electors a By-law proposing the,
issuing of Forty Thousand Dollars- ($40,-
000,00) of debentures upon- the credit of the
Corporation for the purpose of constructing
and equipping of a Seaforth and' District
Community Memorial Recreation Centre on
theSeaforth Agficultural Grounds.
THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the
Corporation of the Town of Seaforth enacts
as follows:

the purpose of constructing and equipping a
•Sea'forth and District .Community Memorial

debentures shall bear interest at a rale not
exceeding 3%, per centum per Comm and
shall be repayable in twenty equal annual.

(2) The By-law shall be submitted for the
assent of the duly qualified electors on
Monday, the 1501 day of August, 1949.
(3) The vote shall be taken at those places
appointed by 13y -law No. 502 of 1949, and
the Deputy Returning Officers, as appointed
by By-law No. 502 of 1949, shall preside at
the VIrious polling places and shall take the
vote under this By-law.
(4) A :copy of this proposed By-law -.shall
be published once a week for three' successive
weeks in The Huron Expositor and The Sea-
forth News newspapers published in the
Town of Seaforth, together with a notice
signed by the Clerk stating that the copy is a
tree copy of the proposed By-law.
(a) The notice shall also state that, if the
assent of the electors is obtained on the by-
lawsubmitted, that It will be token into eon-
siderationby the.Council, after the expiration
of one month from the date of the fleet public-
ation.
(b) The notice shall also state the date of
the first publication of the by-law.
(o) The - notice shall also state the day
and places appointed for -.taking the votes.
(d) The notice shall also state the time
and place for the appointment of persons to
attend at the polling places and at the final
summing of .votes by the Clerk,
(e) The notice shall also state 'that any
tenant desiring to vote shell, not later than
the tenth day before the day appointed for
baking the vete, file with the Clerk .a declar-
ation as provided for by sub -section 3 of
r section 253 of the Municipal Act, 11.5.0, 1017,
Chapter 266.•
(9) Any Corporation desiring to appoint
a nominee to vote on its behalf shall file with
the Clerk not later than the tenth day before
the day appointed for taking the -vote, an
appointment in writing of a person to vote
as its nominee and on its behalf.
