Mous seau and the former's mother, Mrs.. Ezra Kipfer. Miss Mavis Reid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Reid, London, at .a recent graduation recital ` at the Sacred Heart School of Music won the senior violin scholarship, also the. silver medal for. grade LX violin, Miss Reid is a niece of Miss Minnie Reid, Hensall. Born—At Mrs. Pearl . Stephen's Nursing Horne, Hensall, Sunday, May 29th, to Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Flynn, HensaII, a daughter, Y e Aileen, The choir of Carmel. Presbyterian Church. entertained the Board of Managers, Elders and friends in the schoolroom of the church on Mon- day evening. A sing -song was led by Mr.. J. L. Nicol, after which Rev. ,P. A. Ferguson presided over the pro- gram consisting of vocal solos -by Mr. Wm. Brown, Mr. Donald _Bell, Miss Alma Bell and a chorus by Mrs, C. Kennedy, Miss Aima Bell, Mrs. P. A. Ferguson and Mrs. Scholl, Mrs. Charles Forrest accompanied at the, piano. Mrs. A. Seholl, president of, the choir, made a brief address and made Mr. Nichol the presentation of a hymn book. The recipient express- ed his sincere thanks and spoke briefly to the members of the choir and guests encouraging and inspir- ing then in the service of song and music. It was also decided to hold a baking sale at a later date. Mrs• Maude Redden was named " as an extra member' on the buying com- mittee to •send - cards to class mem- bers. Miss Dorothy McNaughton was named to send gifts, Eudora Hyde sang a pleasingsolo "Thorny Roses", A humorous reading "Katrina's visit to New York" was given by Mr. Geo. 1! ollick. His encore was "An after- dinner speech". Delightful violin so- los were then rendered by Mr. Jar- vis Horton accompanied by Miss .Gladys Luker at the piano. Miss Florence Welsh contributed enjoy- able piano numbers, The next item, the topic "Esther" was most interestingly dealt with by Miss Ellis. The sec'y disclosed that the "Care" parcel forwarded to Mr. Morenz Erlangen, Germany, a dist- ant relative of Mrs. Corbett, has been received. However, the letter has to be translated into English. The closing hymn "He liveth long who liveth Well" after which the Mizpah n'sl iediction was repeated. A period of games followed after which delic- ious refreshments were served by those in charge. Mr. Howard Brook was responsible for the excellent program, also the games. Anniversary services will be held in Hensall United Church, Sunday, June 5th when Rev H. V. Horkman will be the guest speaker.
