HART -.Office Phone' 593-W Seaforth Hospital At the beginning of this year, reports were published giving a full account of the affairs of Scott Memorial Hospital. The co-operation of every public -minded citizen was solicited to help overcome the harmful effects of untrue rumours begun by a small faction and spreading through- out the countryside to the detriment of an insti- tution in which we should all take the utmost pride. Unfortunately new rumours have sprung up recently traceable to that same faction, and it is the opinion of the Board that another report on hospital affairs is now timely, There has been difficulty experienced in reaching an understanding with the local medi- cal board, At the present time new by-laws are being drafted up which will give the governing body the right to suspend a doctor or any one not adhering to the rules and regulations of the institution. - Here is a review of the accomplishments- of the three committees which comprise the Board. The House Committee under the chairmanship of .Mrs. J. B. Russell, is doing an excellent job. She and her committee can be called at any to do almost anything relating to internal affairs at the Hospital. At the present time their chief concern is the'proeuring of relief nurses for the staff during the holiday season. As we all know, the shortage ofnurses at the present time makes this task extremely difficult, Report With George Johnston as chairman, the Fin- ance Committee has taken great strides towards establishing a sound businesslike system of fin- ancial management. For the first three months, under a new pay-as-you-go policy, the operating deficit was only $300.00. The Property Committee, with Merton Reid as chairman has brought about many improve- ments, such as the purchase of a new refriger- ator and gas stove. Also the incinerator will shortly be removed front the back yard, to be re- placed by a burner operated in connection with the furnace. In conclusion, we publish again the names of the various committee members. All are doing their best in the interests of Scott Memorial Hospital. They receive no tangible reward for their time and effort. Because of their similarity of interests, and since 'the medical men receive the profit, surely in future the Hospital Board can expect a fuller co-operation from them.
