The congregation of St. Andrew's
United Church held their annual
anniversary on Sunday last with
large congregations at both services.

sion of Autumn flowers and ferns
which added greatly to the atmos-
phere of the day. The guest speaker,
at the morning service was Rev. W.
A. Beecroft of Wingham United
Church, and he delivered a very in-
spiring sermon. The evening speaker
was Rev. H. V. Workman of Sea -
forth, who, as a boy, was a member
of Kippen, Hil]sgreen Pastoral
Charge. Special music was furnished
by the choir under the direction of
Mrs. John Henderson, and used for
their anthem at the morning servie,
"Jesus Calls Us", and for the even-
ing service they chose "Take Time
to be Holy" and "Blessed are the Na-
tions". They were assisted by Mrs.
Scholl and Mrs. C. Kennedy of Hen-
sall, ,who chose for their duet "The
Ever Beautiful", "Bless This House".
Mrs. Kennedy also rendered the solo
"I shall not pass this way Again".

A pretty autumn wedding took
place at the home of the bride's
parents, Front Road, Stanley, on
Saturday, October 16th, at 11:30
a.m., when Doris Ruth, dapghter of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reid, became the
bride of George Melvin Roy Cante-
lon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Can-
telon of Stanley. Rev Reba Hern
performed the ceremony. The bride,
who was given in marriage by her
father, wore a floor -length gown of
white slipper,satin, nylon yoke out-
lined with lace and pearls, full hoop
skirt caught up in front over deep
lace ruffles, and finger-tip veil. She
carried a bouquet of peerless red
roses. The matron of honour was
Mrs. Gordon Hill, of London, sister
of the bride,who wore a gown of
azure blue taffeta, with full skirt
and lace yolk, matching mittens and
shoulder veil and flower headdress.
She carried pink Br'iarcliffe roses.
Carol Ann Hill, little niece of the
bride, was flower girl, wearing a
floor -length gown of pink taffeta
with lace trimmings, and carried a
nosegay of baby mums and carna-
tions, Mr. Ray Cantelon, of Stanley,
was best man. Mrs. Jack Mustard, of
Brucefield, played the wedding mu-
sic from Lohengrin, and Miss Mild-
red 'Charters of Blyth, cousin of the
bride, sang "Because" accompanied
by Mrs. Bruce Keys, sister of the
bride. The waitresses were Misses
Mona Reid, Ruth Keys, Joyce Ste-
phenson, Marion Hill, Shirley Buf-
fett, assisted by Mrs. Ken Wheeler,
Miss Rachel Johnston, and Mrs.
Wilmer Reid. The groom's gift to
the bride was a double strand of
pearls, to the matron of honour a
dresser set, best man, a bill fold.

the groom's farm in Stanley town-

Mrs. Ed. Harding of Toronto,
spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.

David Anderson of Londesboro,
The W.A. met in the schoolroom
of the church with the president,
Mrs: Adams, presiding. Mrs. Adams
gave a talk on taking our part in So-
ciety matters. Prayer by Mrs. Mont-
gomery and Mrs. Lindsay, followed
by the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Thanks were passed on to the com-
mittee who decorated the church for
anniversary. Moved by Mrs. Lindsay,
seconded by Mrs. Frank Riley, that
we pay for the stove. Two new mem-
bers were appointed to the parson-
age committee, Mrs. Earl Lawson
and Mrs. Bert Stephenson. Moved
by Mrs. Mcliwain, seconded by Mrs.
Stephenson, that the hymn books be
repaired. Mrs. William Dale took
charge of the program. The scripture
lesson was read by Mrs. Earl Law-
son. A trio, Mrs. Wm. Dale, Mrs.
Montgomery and Mrs. McIlwain, ac-
companied by Mrs. Riley. Reading
by Mrs. Adams, "A Novel Church".
