Hold Thanksgiving Meeting The W. M. S. of St. Andrew's United Church met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wm. Alexander for • their Thanksgiving meeting, Temperance being com- bined. The President, Mrs. Robt. Elgie, presided and opened the meet- ing with the hymn 674. Mrs. Morley Cooper led in prayer. A scripture reading was given by Mrs. Elgie. Mrs. M. Cooper then read the scrip- ture lesson. Hymn 577 was sung. Twenty-five members answered the roll call with the text word being Thanksgiving. Business was discus- sed and Mrs. Elgie reported that Hensall and Brucefield Auxiliaries had accepted the invitation to the Birthday meeting to be held in the Sunday School in November. The guest speaker to be Mrs. '(Rev.) Workman of Seaforth. The nominat- ing committee for the 1949 slate were elected as follows: Mrs. AIec McMurtrie, Mrs. B. Peck, Mrs. El- don Jarrott. The program commit- tee being Mrs. R. MacGregor, Mrs. J. McLellan, Mrs. •Carl McClinchey and Mrs. John Anderson. Anniversary Services To Be 'Held The Congregation of St. Andrew's United Church are holding their An- nual Anniversary on Sunday next at 11 a.m., and 7 p.m. The guest speaker at the morning service will be Rev. Beecroft of Wingbam, while the evening speaker will be Rev. H. Workman of Seaforth. Special mu- sic will be furnished by the choir assisted by guest soloists. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones visit- ed on Sunday with Mrs. J. Love, near Hillsgreen. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pollar$ of Guelph spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. A. Gackstetter. Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Homey of Exeter visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. Gackstetter. The W.A. of St. Andrew's United Church are holding their bazaar in the Sunday School room on Satur- day, November 13th. HARLOCK The October Ladies' Aid and W.M,S. meeting of Burns' Church was held at the hone of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bell Thursday afternoon of last week with a very good attendance. Immediately after the meetings Mrs. John Arians read a very nice address to Mrs, Peter McDonald who a few months ago with her husband moved to Walton. Mrs. Wm. Bell presented two electric lamps. Mrs. McDonald made a short reply and invited them all to call on them when in Walton. Lunch was then served. The ladies are holding a bazaar at the November meeting. Mrs. Jennie i5nox has been visiting at the hone of her -sons and wives, Messrs, Ernest and Ward `Knox and calling oh some of her friends. She expects soon to go back to Toronto for the cold weather. Mr. and Mrs. James Scott and chil- dren returned to Toronto on Monday after holidaying over the week end with McVittie friends, Mr. Donald Watt and a churn who also works in the bank and who had been spending the week end at. the hone of Mr. and Mrs, Leo Watt, returned with them to Toronto, Mr, Archie Watt and his western friend retuned to Centralia after spending the week .encl at the home of the forner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Watt. Mr. and Mrs. E. Iinnechtel returned to London Monday ,evening after spending the week .end with her. brother Mr. Reece Ferris. Mr. Reece Ferris got his wood circ- led on Tuesday. Eva returned to Toronto on Monday morning after spending Sat- urday night with an old neighbor and friend Mr, and Mrs. Mat Armstrong. and Sunday night at the home of her niece Mr. and Mrs. Warren Gibbings near Clinton. Nellie also intended coming up for the week but taking a bad cold was unable to come. Messrs. Watson and" Leslie Reid, James McEwing and Wn. Knox mot- ored to Lindsay on Wednesday to at- tend' the plowing match. BAYFIELD Mrs, Irene Bassett who spent the past three weeks in Woodstock re- turned home on Saturday, Mrs. M. Elliott and Mr. Leslie El- liott spent the holiday in Detroit and Mt. Clemens, Mich. Mrs. Grant Turner and two children visited friends in Romeo, Mich., over the week end. Mrs. F. A. Edwards, 'Mrs. Robert Watson and son Edwards spent the week end in Kitchener, Mr. Jack Stewart of Hamilton was at his home here over the week end. On his return he was accompanied by Mrs. Stewart who spent the past two weeks here. Mrs. L. Morley and her guest Miss F.
