Ferguson and daug- hter of London, spent the weekend with Mm Ferguson's parents, 114r. and Mrs. Norman Jones. 'Mrs, Edna Corbett returned home from a pleasant visit with her aunt Mics. Ida Harding, in London. The Women's Missionary Society of the United Church was' held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening at S p.m. The meeting opened with the President, Mrs. W. B. Cross in the chair, and the singing of "Breathe on me Breath of God", followed by the Lord's Prayer in un- ison. The scripture, Psalm 97 was read by Mrs. J. Smillie. Miss Violet McClymont led in prayer. Mrs. Cross read interesting Missionary events. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. Business discussion followed. The annual birthday party will be held on May 21st when the ladies of the Goshen Line and Hillsgreen will be guests. The roll call was answered by 20 members and 1 visitor. Hymn "My Faith looks up to Thee". A bale will be packed the end of May. Mrs. Ed. McQueen gave a splendid report of the W.M.S. Presbyterial held in Seaforth. Mrs, E. Geiger also gave an interesting report showing the splendid work being done. Miss Gladys Luker played a beautiful piano solo. Mrs. Brook gave an in- teresting chapter- from the study book. The meeting closed by singing "My Faith looks up to . Theeand the Mizpah Benediction. Mrs. Daniels returned to her hone here having spent the. winter. in London. Mother's Day Service was held in Chiselhurst United Church on Sun- day with a Young People's choir. The Junior choir sang `Jesus Loves Me". The Young Peoples' choir sang "My Mother's Prayer". Donald Mc- Lellan gave the story. The scripture lessons were read by = Miss Mary Taylor and Mrs. T. Brintnell. The Sacrament of Baptism 'was adminis- tered to the children of Mr. and liars. Ben Stoneman, Mr, and Mrs. Alf Ross, Me. and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. 'Gordon Hamilton. Rev. R. A. Brook gave .a splendid address. Miss Helen Moir of London, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Baynham, Mr. and Mrs. Milne Rennie of Seaforth called on relatives here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Simpson and family of Detroit spent the week- end with the former's mother, Mrs. Louis Simpson. Mrs. Mac Greer of London, spent the weekend at the home of her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bonthron. Mrs. Abray and family and Mr. and Mrs. 'Eldon Kading of London, visited on Sunday with their mother. Mrs. C. Hudson. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. The Young People were fortunate in having Dr. Janes Bell with his lantern and pic- tures of his numerous travels, as their guest. During the evening Miss Alma Bell favored with a solo en- titled "Beautiful Dreamer." Rev. C. H. MacDonald, 'D.D., Mo- derator of the General Assembly, was guest minister at Carmel Pres- byterian Church on Sunday. The children of Rev. and Mrs. P. Ter- guson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Kenne- dy were baptised. Mrs. J. W. Bon- thron sang 'The Stranger of Gal- ilee." Mrs. 3. Hewitt sang "Resigna- tion." Mrs. A. Scholl was soloist in the anthem, ''Still, Still with Thee." Rev. R. A. Brook assisted in the ev- ening service and Rev. Dr. Mac- Donald spoke on "What Must I Do To Be Saved?" Mrs. T. Harry Hoff- man of Dashwood was guest soloist. Mrs. Wm. Brown was soloist in the anthem. Rev. W. 'tl. Young, B.S.A., St. An- drew's Church, Fergus, will be the guest speaker at the services in Car- mel Church on Sunday. Rev. R. A. Brook was assisted at Hensall United Church on Sunday by Mr. E. Shortt, Sunday school su- perintendent. The sacrament of bap- tism was dispensed to the children of Mr. and Mrs. A. Munn, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Traquair, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lavery and Mr. and Mrs. E. Shortt. Mr. E. Shortt has been engaged as principal of the six -roomed school at Palmerston. Mrs. Laramie and Miss Greta La- mmie and Miss Amy Laramie of London spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lammie and family at Centralia. Mr. and Mrs. John Duncan and babe of Toronto are holidaying with Mrs. Duncan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McNaughton. Mrs. John C. Cochrane of Sea - forth was a recent visitor with Miss Minnie Reid. Mr. Hilliard Lawrence purchased the dwelling on Richmond St. south from Mr. H. 0. Dayman of London. The Evening Auxiliary of the Hensall United Church met at the home of Mrs. David Kyle on Mon- day night. Mrs. Howard Hyde ass- isted the hostess. Mrs. Shortt pre- sided. Scripture was read by Mrs. M. Sanders. The devotional was ta- ken by Mrs. Wes Jones. Mrs. Byron Kyle led in prayer. Mrs. Robert Drysdale gave a missionary item. In answer to the roll call the members contributed an array of aprons and novelties. Print was distributed for the making of aprons. The Aux- iliary picnic will be held at Miss Margaret Glenn's on June 23r'd. Miss Michie and Miss Glenn are on the recreation committee. Mrs. Shortt dealt with the study book. Regular meeting of the Village Council held Monday evening, May 3rd at 8 p.m. in the Council Cham- ber with all members 'being present. Minutes of the previous meeting read. Brown and Middleton, that the minutes be adopted as read. Lee Hadden appearedre stating the si- tion formerly held by that he was not on duty at the time the affair happened, and asked that the matter be reconsidered. No action taken by Council.
