The funeral of the late Ellice h sudden death whose do s en de th took place at her home in London, on May 4, was held from the Gingras Funeral Home in Stratford, on Fri- day, May '7 to St. Joseph's Church where the Requiem Mass was sung, by Rev. Dean Egan, interment fol- lowing in St. Ambrose R. C. Ceme- tery, Brussels. The pallbearers were Lewis Rowland, Norman Rowland, Nelson Reid and Lawrence Ryan of Walton; Joseph Rowland of Seaforth and Lewis Rowland of St. Columban. Friends and relatives attending the funeral were from London, Strat- ford, St. Columban, Dublin, Seaforth' and Walton. Mr. George Caister and his sister Miss L. Caister, from Michigan, have returned home after spending the past week with Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Kirkby and other relatives in this' vicinity. A goodly number of the W.M.S. ladies from this district attended the Conference Branch meeting which was held in Exeter last week. Mrs. Maxwell Lovey, Sec., for Home Missions, Toronto, was one of the guest speakers. Dr. Stanway, Mis- sionary on furlough from Africa, de- livered a very inspiring address, also Dr. Chalmers, who is one of the members of the Board of Social Ser- vice and Evangelism, told of his work CONSTANCE Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Adams over the week end and for Sunday included 1V.i'r, and N1rs, Kelso Adams of Siltford; Mr. Miller Adams, McK.illop; Mr. and Mrs." H. L. McDonald, London. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Adams spent Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John. Mills of Blyth. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley spent Monday in London. Mr; and Mrs. Roy McDonald and Mrs. Justin Sinclair of Brigden visit- ed Mrs. Leo Stephenson one day last week. Miss Mary Moore of Toronto spent Sunday with her brother Mr. Wm. Moore, Mrs.. B. B. Stephenson left Thurs- day to spend the summer with her sister in Prince Rupert, B.C. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dexter and Mr. and Mrs. Austin Dexter were in Ilderton on Saturday attending the funeral of their cousin, the late Miss Amy Hughes. Mr. Donald Stephenson left Mon- day for Toronto where he has ac- cepted a position with A. V. Rowe and Co., for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Armstrong attended the funeral of the formers brother-in-law, Mr. Percy Cole in Stratford on Tuesday. Damm and -son of Kitchener visited on Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Damm. • W. M. S. Meet The W.M.S. met on Friday after- noon at the home of Mrs. Robt. MacGregor with a good attendance. The president, Mrs. Robt. Elgie, presided and opened the meeting with -the hymn 375. Mrs. Harry Caldwell then read the scripture lesson. A responsive reading was then given by Mrs. Elgie, Miss Mar- garet Sinclair. No. 3&2 in the hym- nary was then read in unison. Hymn 511 was then sung. Mrs. James Bon- thron of Hensall favoured the meet- ing with the solo, "Dear Lord For- give" accompanied on the piano by Mrs. J. Sinclair. The minutes and roll call were then taken and a short business discussion followed at which a special offering was taken for yarn for the supply work and also for flowers. Mrs. Hinton gave a report on the Presbyterial held re- cently in Seaforth. Miss Bernice McClinchey then sang a solo accom- panied by Mrs. Ross Broadfoot. The study was given by Mrs. R. Peck. Mrs. J. Bonthron then sang, "Jesus Is Always There." Mrs. W. Caldwell read an interesting poem, "Just the Same Today." Mrs. Elgie read an article on the English Bible. At the close lunch was served. On Monday evening, May .17 at 8.30 p.m. the Y.P.U. of Walton Un- ited -Church are presenting their play, "Maid of Money," in St. And- rew's United Church here sponsored by the Friendship Circle. The Sunday School of St. And- rew's United Church held their ser- vice with the church congregation' on Sunday morning last for special Mother's Day program. The Moth- er's Day leaflets were followed. The Spirit of the Christian Horne, as found in Moffat's Translation of 1st Corinthians, 13th chapter, was read by Mona Caldwell. Mrs. Allan John- son then read a short article. Four of the Junior Girls then presented their gifts for mother, namely Bon- nie Kyle, Elaine Bell, Lois McLel- lan and Anne Sinclair. The choir then sang their anthem, "Just .For You." A story, "The Broken Tribes" was given by Mr. E. Hayes and proved a very good moral to never judge too quickly. A dramatization Standards of Worth, directed by Mr. Hinton and Mrs. Emerson Kyle was given by seven of the juniors, namely, Thankfulness, Marlyn And- erson; Honesty, Wayne McBride; Sacrifice, Marie Jarrott; Faith, Dou- glas Cooper; Bravery, Grant Mc- Gregor; Others; Ilene McLean; Ser- vice, Bob Caldwell. Each placed their cards around the words, Know- ledge of the Lord. A good atten- dance of children with their teach- ers occupied the front seats of the church.
