and other eastern points. 'For trave-
ing the bride chose a Julliard's teal
blue gabardine suit which featured
leg-of-mutton sleeves with a tight
bjshop cuff, a belted jacket and pen-
cil slim skirt with mandarin slits.
Her accessories included a white
crepe blouse embroidered with beads
and sequins, cherry • coke gloves,
handbag, shoes and a grey hat with
cherry coke feather trim. On their
return they will reside at 668 Fisher
St., North Bay, Ont,

seau tea was held at the bride's

Miss 'Jean -Brandon spent the
weekend with friends in London.
Mr. Roger Verner returned home;
from St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
on Monday, having been a patient
there for a week following a motor
accident.
Born—In Hamilton General Hos-
pital on Jan. 26th to Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Schwalm, a daughter.
Mrs. Melvin Moir was hostess at
her home on Tuesday evening for
the regular meeting of the Ladies
Aid of Carmel Presbyterian Church.
The Hensall branch of the Cana-
dian Legion No, 468 are sponsoring
a bingo and dance in the Town hall,
Hensall, on Friday evening Feb. 6—
good prizes. Music by Murdock's
orchestra.
Mr. Aylmer Ryckman
The death occurred at Mrs, J. H.
Hookey's Nursing Horne, in Exeter,
on Friday, January 30th of Mr. Ayl-
mer E. Ryckman in his 47th year.
Born in Usborne Township on the
farm on which his brothel' Mr: Grant
Ryckman now resides, the deceased
spent the greater part of his life in
and around Hensall, having made his
home for the past 17 years at the
home of his nephew, Mr, and Mrs.
Edgar_ McQueen. He is survived by
two brothers, Frank and Grant
Ryckman of Usboone and one sister,
Mr's. Susan Dick, South Boardman,
Mich.
Funeral service was held from
Bonthron's Funeral Home on Mon-
day at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev, R.
A. Brook. The floral tributes were
very beautiful. The pallbearers were
Messrs. Archie and William Ryck-
man, Ben Case, Exeter, Joseph
Flynn, Wm. Soldan and Thos, Sher-
ritt. Interment in MacTaggart's
cemetery
Mr. John M. Bell
Mr. John M. Bell passed away sud-
denly at his hone one mile and a
half west of Hensall on Saturday,
Jan. 31st in his 87th year. Death
was attributed to a heart condition.
A son of the late Mr. and firs. Paul
Bell, prominent pioneer residents of
this community, he was born in Hay
Township and was a well known dis-
trict farmer and a member of Car-
mel "Presbyterian Church: •Surviving
is one brother, Wm. M. Bell, who re-
sided with him. Private funeral ser-
vice was held on Tuesday from the
home of his nephew Mr, Stewart
Bell at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev P.
A. Ferguson. interment in Hensall
Union Cemetery.
BRODHAGEN
On her mother's birthday, Miss
Gwendolyn Mary Darling, R.N., be-
came the bride of. Ralph John Die -
gel at a candlelit wedding ceremony
conducted Wednesday evening, Jan.
14, by Dr. M. N. Onend in St. An-
drew's United Church, which was
beautifully decorated with ferns,
standards of chrysanthemums and
snapdragon, for the occasion.
The bride is the only -daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon H. Darling of
North Bay, 'Ont., while the groom is
the only son of NIr. and Mrs. John
C. Diegel of. Ferris. The groom is a
pvandson of Mrs. Louise Hinz and
Mrs. John C. Diegel, both of Brod-
hagen. Mr. and Mrs. Diegel were
former residents of Brodhogen•
.George 7'1. Hale, orangist and choir-
master of St. Andrew's Church,
nlaved the wedding music and ac-
companied Miss Jeanne Dengis of
Stratford, who sang "Because" dur-
ing' the signing of the register.
Given in marriage by fret' father,
the bride chose a gown of ivory
satin fashioned with a sweetheart
neckline, victorian sleeves corning to
points over the hands and a full
skirt, which fell in a graceful semi -
tram. Her finger-tip veil of em-
broidered white Brussels net' was
crested with a coronet embroidered
with seed pearls and silver beads.
The veil was worn by the groom's
mother on her wedding day almost
23 years ago. She carried a shower
bouquet of briareliffe roses and
ediantum fern. Built into the back
of the bride's bouquet was a horse-
shoe to bring luck on the wedding
day. A gift of the groom, a necklet
of pearls was the bride's only orna-
ment. As matron of honor, Mrs. Al-
vin Ashford wore a gown of scarlet
velvet fashioned similarly to the
bridal gown. She wore a• matching
headdress of scarlet velvet caught
at either sides with bows. Her flow-
ers were ,Johanna Hill roses. Johan-
na Hill roses were also carried by
the bridesmaids, Misses Ann Mitch-
ell and Beth Burrows, who were
identically gowned in Hunter's green
velvet and snatching headdress,
styled to match the ensemble worn
by the matron of honor. The flower,
girl, Donna Smith,' wore a rustling
white taffeta frock with an off -the -
shoulder ruffle and a full skirt, A
snatching poke bonnet and a nose-
gay of briarcliffe roses and statice
completed her ' ensemble. Gordon
Lamorie attended the groom as best
0100, while .the ushers were Ban-
croft Newman, Edward Floyd, Har-
ry T,inzdell and Alvin Ashford. A
wedding dinner was served in the
Sunday School room of St. Andrew's
United Church. Guests were receiy-
ed by the bridal party, Mr. and MIS,
Darling, and Mr. and Mrs. Diegel.
The bride's mother was attractively
attired in a liaise green crepe dress
with gold nail -head trim and front
side drape. Her black felt hat feat-
ured a fawn ostritch plume. Her
nrn•saee was of Talisman roses. Mrs.
Diegel, mother of the groom chose.
a two -tune brown crepe gown with
gold nail -head trim, a brown fet hat
with a two-tone brown feather and
o- corsage of Talisman roses. Table
decorations featured bouquets of
moms. pink tapers in silver holders
