Due to the keen interest taken in
the Bacon (Jitter competition which
was sponsored by the Fe'dera'l and
Provincial Departments of Agkicul-
bure last spring, it has been decided
to conduct another competition this
fall,
Any .farmers in the county may
make entry in this competition and
date of farrowing must be between
September 1St and N'ovemlber lSth,
and entry •made within SEVEN days
after the date of farrowing. In order
to qualify there must be nine pigs in
the litter raised to marketing age, and
at least 30% of the litter must grade
as select flacon.
The awards will be based on the
weight, size, q'ua'lity and umilorniity
of the litter.

DIES AT VICTORIA.
The 'death of a former prominent
business man of this towns took place
in Victoria, 'B.C., on Sunday night at
11 o'clock when Mr. James Scott
passed away after a long period of
failing health. The late Mr, Scott was
born eighty-four years ago at Rox-
boro , ,belonging to the family of
three boys and Ave girls of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott, For many
years he was its business in Seaforth,
with his brother, the late Archie
(Scott, first in the piano business and
later the eledtric light ,plant, In 1912
Mr. Scott went to Edmonton and set-
tled in the Peace River district where
he lived until retiring to Victoria B,iC,
a few years ago. He was twice mar-
ried, his first wife being Miss Ella
Wilson. of Seaforth, and after . her
death he was married to Mrs. Short -
reed, of Seaforth; who survives, with
three children, Roy, of Peace River;
Beatrice and Clarence of Vancouver.
Two children predeceased him, Eve-
lyn and Amehie.
The funeral! service will take place
on Tuesday afternoon '01 First Pres-
byterian Church, Seaforth, at 2 p. m.
and funeral at 2.30 p.m. to the place of
interment in Maitland ,bank cemetery.
