Orange Lily Lodge No. 712 held
their annual picnic to Bayfield on July
30th. A delightful afternoon was spent
at the lakeside after which the ladies
served supper, followed by races and
a friendly game of ball. The list of

PRESIDENT OF WEBSTER
CLAN DIES IN DETROIT.
The funeral of Mr. Thomas Web-
ster, Detroit, was held to Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow, on Tuesday af-
ternoon, August 5th. Mr, Webster, a
well known re.aident of Huron county
until about fifteen years ago, was
president of the Webster Clan which
has held a large reunion annually since
its inception seven years ago, during
which time he held that honored of-
fice. His death occurred in Detroit
after a brief illness: For years he
was in business in his horne town of
Lucknow. Surviving are his wife and
four daughters, in Detroit. Among
those attending the funeral were: Mrs
Lorne Webster, McKillop; Mr. and
Mrs T. J. Webster, Tuckersmith; Mr.
Robert Webster, Varna; Lieut, -Col.
and Mrs. Harry McGee, Mrs. James
McGee, Airs. Jahn McGee, Mr. Gor-

the meeting with a hy=mn, "Be it my

George Carter gave an instructive talk
to the mothers on "The Training of
Children," which was most approp-

charge. The subject for study was
'Hymns." Mrs. W. Thompson gave a
very fine reading on "The place that -
singing and music had in the Old
testament times." Mrs. Wheatley
gave a very interestnig explanation in.
regard to a number of our hymns:
'Before Jehovah's Awful Throne,"
'0 God of Bethel By Whose Hand,"
"'Rook of Ages," "Abide with Me,"
and "What a Friend we Have in Je-
sus." As the story of each hymn was
told they sang a verse or two of each
which seemed to give us a deeper or
more spiritual understanding of what
these hymns meant. Mrs. Will Brit-
ton gave a short talk on "Happiness"
and called attention to how often in
God's work we are told to be joyful.
