Canada - Britain's
New Auto Market
Old Country Firms to Offer
Powerful Competition
TRADE WAR NEAR
London.—British automobile manu-
facturers are preparing to invade the
Canadian market. They propose the
establishment iu Canada of assemb-
ling and manufacturing plants back-
ed by aggressive salesmanship. This
fact was brought out in private di5-
cussion between British and Canadian
delegates attending the recent con-
gress of the Empire Chambers of Com-
merce when what was described as
Ignited States dominance of the Caa-
adieu automobile markets was among
the subjects explored.
Canadian delegates submitted three
principal points:
Plants Asked for Canada
(1) That Britain •should initiate
the example of the United States by
providing as far as possible for menu -
lecturing plants in Canada and that
the most effective way of meeting
'foreign competition in Canada was for
British manufacturers to take their
courage in their hands and put up
'manufacturing plants in Canada.
(2) The necessity of having in Can-
ada centres for assembling where or-
ganizations could be developed for
the provision of spare parts.
Publicity Drive to Open
,3) The necessity of more aggres-
.sive.ealesivanship. Reporting to Con
grass, P. J. Hannon, the chai'r'man of
bilateral disoussions, said he had re-
ceived from British motor manatee -
;hirers a letter in which they said they
were prepared by co-ordination and
.co-operation to make a really concen-
trated attack upon Canada through
more highly organized methods of ad-
vertisement and publicity.

STURDY CHILDHOOD
Future to Offer
Rustless Fords?
The sturdy child—the bright, active
little chap is the one everybody loves.
It is only the sickly, fretful -' ild who
is not attractive. It is the birthright
of every child to be sturdy and well—
to be able to make everyone admire
him. Therefore, mothers, if yours is
not attractite it's your fault, not his.
He must be ailing and it is up to you
to see that he ge" relief—that he is
given a medicine that will quickly
make him well and keep him well.

designed for infants and young child-

for correcting the irregularities of the
stomach and bowels—i'=a cause of

Lettuce For Looks.
There is nothing more cooling for
the blood than lettuce leaves. ,A few
crisp leaves, sprinkled with olive oil
and a few drops of lemon -juice, eaten
daily will keep the 'flood cool and pre-
vent "heat spots" and other complex-
ion blemishes.
For whitening and softening the
satin, for removing tan and sunburn,
there is no 'better preparation than
lettuce cream. To make this, use one
or- more heads of lettuce and scald
them with boiling water. Allow to
stand for fifteen minutes'; 'then pour
off' thewater, placethe lettuce in
an earthenware bowl, and pound to a
pulp, then strain through a cloth.
Now put one ounce of white wax and
one ounce of svermaceti in an earth-
enware jar, and stand in boiling
water until melted. Add four ounces
of pure almond oil and mix thorough-
ly, then add the lettuce juice in small
quantities, beating the mixture with a
silver fork. ' Put into email jars for
use.
As a sleep inducer, eat one lettuce
leaf after getting` into bed, and you
will soon begin to feel drowsy and
will sleep like the proverbial log('

metal parts of the new models, is
one of the miracles of modern science:
Corrosion, since the days of earliest
metal working, has been the arch
enemy of metallic, products. indeed
the marked resistance of gold and
silver to corrosion was, in the begin-
ning', one of the chief advantages of.
the precious metals. Their scarcity,
however, naturally prohibited their
general use.
The problem of rust increased in
direct proportion as man's use of iron
and steel increased, until of recent
yearn the cost of rust In the aggre-
gate yearly waste has amounted to
staggering figures. In the automotive
industry the problem of rust finally,
became so acute as virtually to pre-
clude manufacturers from using any
exposed plated 'metal Parts.
The introduction of chromium plat-
ens heralded by many manatee-
' as a great step towards the
est of Corrosion. Itremained
for rustless steel, however, to achieve
the ultimate and final victory. This
remarkable metal is absolutely resist-
ant to rust, tarnish or corrosion, a
damp rag is all that is necessary to
restore Its original brilliance. There
is no plating to crack or wear off
since the lustre quality goes all the
way through the metal and will last
for generations.
Rustless steel, of course, is more
expensive than plated metals. But
the economies of mass production
have made its use possible in the low-
priced Ford cars. In- the Improved
