Buffett-McGowan.—The home of
Mr. and Mrs, R. C. McGowan, 3rd
concession, East 'Waewanosh, was the
scene of a very pretty wedding at
high noon, Wednesday, May 30, when
their daughter Ruth Belle, R.N., of
Detroit, became the bride of 'Harold
E. Buffett, also of Detroit, and form
erly of Renfrew, Ont. Rev. George
Weir, of St. Andrews United Church,
Blyth, performed the ceremony. The
bride was given away by her Mather,
Little Mabel. Coultis, niece ' of the
bride, acted as flower -girl. About 25
guests were present. The happy
couple left on'a motor trip to Toron-
to, Niagara Falls, Cleveland and Buf-
falo. A host of good wishes follow
them from their many friends here
and in Detroit.
A miscellaneous shower was held
last week in honor of the bride-to-be
by Mrs, Joliet Murdoch, at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. McAlpin Red-
ford, Dettott. The shower included
many useful and costly gifts

death of Mr. Grant in Clinton on
Monday morning, Mr. Grant, who
was, orchard inspector in this district,.

McQuaid Brothers' Reunion.- .On
May 24th .there gathered at thehome
of Reeve 'Frank MoQuaid of McKil-
lop, his other four living brothers.
Those present were Martin McQuaid,
of Toronto; Michael, !Detroit; John,
Seaforth' Joseph, McKillop and
Frank of icKillop. I1 was the elev-
enth anniversary of the death of Dr.
Thomas •McQuaid, the sixth brother
of the family, and ewhile ttite living
brothers were not far removed from
each other, this is the 'first 'time . in
11 years.that the 5 brothers have 'been.
together._ The occasion of the visit of
the brothers was the rather precarious
condition of Reeve Frank McQuaid,
the eldest brother, who has not been
enjoying •good, health' during the past
year.
.Reeve McQuaid is completing his
21st year in the municipal service of
his native township of MoKildop,
•twelve of •those as 'Councillor and on
his ninth as Reeve. He has also serv-
ed a long and meritorious term as
!nail courier at 1St. Cola -mina station,
extending over a period of from April.
1st, 1908, up to the present, time. He
is retiring from this work on June 30,
owing to ill heal'Ch,
These two`'records inthe municipal
service and in the employ of .the out-
side service of the post office depart-
ment, are unique .in the length of con-
tinuous service to the public.
Mr. McQuaid has just ,turned his
60th year and while his health is any-
thing but good, it is the fond hope of
his legion .of friends' in the district,
that he will be spared many years to
his native Ontario and to entertain his
brothers 6n many a contig Empire
