spent the week end in Dublin at
Earl Elliott's while Mr. and Mrs.
Elliott were holidaying in Ham-
ilton and Kitchener.
Teddy Elliott of Dublin was the
winner of $100 at St, Patrick's
garden party, Dublin last week.
MRS. DAVID GARDINER
The death occurred in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on
Monday, June 26, of Mrs, Margar-
et Gardiner of Cromarty, at the
age of 87. She was predeceased
by her husband in 1960. Three
sons and two daughters survive:
James of Usborne tp., Alex, of
Cromarty, Robert of Hibbert tp.,
Christina, Mrs. Wilmer Howatt,
Londesboro; Elsie, Mrs. Heber
Shute, Usborne tp.; also a sister.
Mrs, Mary Ellen Gilfillan, London.
The funeral service will be on
Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock
at the Heath -Leslie funeral home,
Mitchell, with interment in Roy's
Cemetery.
WIN OPENER
In the opening game played in
Winthrop on June 19th. Winthrop
defeated Londesboro 26 to 23 in
a close fought battle.
The second game of the season
played in Clinton on June 21st
saw Winthrop down the Clinton
Acrobats 41. to 7, Buchanan was
the winning pitcher and Switzer
the loser.
The third game was played in
Winthrop on June 26th. Winthrop
girls downed the Clinton Comets
44 to 6. Ruth Ritchie led the team
at bat with 8 hits, 2 homers, 3
doubles and 2 singles for a per-
fect night at bat, Winthrop south
paw Williamson went all the way
to register her first victory, allow•
ing 13 hits but with solne clutch
pitching and fine fielding by her
teammates kept the Clinton score
down, Following the game a
draw was held fora barbecue and
Barbara McClure was the lucky
ticket holder with ticket 469. Bert
Garrett of the Clinton team made
the draw,

The regular meeting for June
