A Remembrance Day service was held Sunday morning last in the United Church with the pastor, Rev, T. 3. Pitt in charge. The choir under the direction of the organist, Mrs. Robert Stir- ling, sang the anthem "A Mighty Fortress". After the service the congregation paraded to the cenotaph and wreaths were plac- ed by members of the Township Council, Veterans and the L.O.L. Anderson and Mrs. N. Reid gave the medi- tation and prayer. Minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Mrs. A. Coutts gave a full report on the fowl supper. Mrs. Reid expressed thanks for herself and Mrs, K. McDonald to all who had helped make the supper such a success. Mrs, Snhalldon, Mrs. Baan and Mrs, Clark were asked to keep the ferns for the winter. The kitchen committee were gi- ven authority to buy needed sup- plies. The manse committee was left in charge of the manse chest- erfield and chairs, The W. A. project for 1962 will be to help the managers financi- ally to put a new floor in Sunday School room, Mrs. A. Coutts and. Mrs. E. McCreath were to get some artificial flowers for the vases for the winter. Mrs. N. Schade presided for the WMS. Mrs. Bosman had the topic "The Red Dress". 18 ladies answered the roll call a "Parable of the Bible", Mrs. T. Dundee gave the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. M. Baan reported on the Sectional meeting held in Goshen Church. Mrs. Maud Leem- lag gave the treasurer's report. Our Thankoffering meeting is Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. with Mrs. A, Higginbotham as speaker, McKil- lop group is to serve and bound- ary and 17th to wash up, The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer, 26th Wedding Anniversary A social evening honouring Mr. and Mrs, Hugh Johnston on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniverasry was held in S.S. #12, Grey School on Friday evening. Progressive euchre was played with the following winning prig - es, Ladies high, Mary Helen Bit cllanan; low Neil Williamson. Gent's high, Harvey Craig; low, Jim Williamson. Following the euchre guests of honor were presented with an electric frying pan and, hassock by Harold McCallum and Norman Williamson, The address was read by Mrs. Harold McCallum. Kippen United Church was tastefully decorated with Autumn leaves and flowers for the an- nual birthday party meeting held Wednesday evening, Nov. 1 with ladies from Varna, Hensall and Duff's Societies as guests, Mrs. John Sinclair in charge of the worship took as her theme "Du- ty". I slept and dreamed that life was beauty, I woke and found that life was duty. Hymn "Take" time to be Holy" was sung. Mrs. Kenneth McKay read scripture, Luke 15: 3-10. Hymn "I need Thee every hour" was sung and the worship period closed with prayer. The president, Mrs. John Anderson, then presided for the remainder of the meeting and welcomed the members and the guests. Mrs. E. McBride moved that the minutes be approved without reading, seconded by Mrs. John Cooper. The roll call lvas taken. Remembrance Day services were held on Sunday morning in the Baptist Church. Rev, Boden - ham, pastor of the Church was the sneaker. Following -the ser- vices the congregations of the lo- cal churches assembled at the Cenotaph where a Memorial Ser- vice was held in honor of our men who gave their lives in the past wars. This service was tak- en by Mr. Bodenham assisted by Rev. W. Smith and Rev. E. Harrison. Miss Jessie Metcalf, Detroit, was at her home over the week- end. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Willits clos- ed their cottage on Saturday and returned home to Pleasant Ridge in Michigan. They had spent the past six months here.
