home after a week's holidays in
Northern Ontario, travelling . as
far as Matheson near Timmins.
They were guests of Mrs. Jeff
Burton, formerly A11ie Ross of
McKillop, and her husband.
While there they enjoyed a trip
in their motor boat on Russell
Creek, noted for its fine fish.
They also visited Miss Pearl Ross
at Englehart, a former teacher
at Walton public school. Mrs.
Hester Wilmott of Huntsville
and Mr. and Mrs. E. Secord at,
meaford. Other points of inter-
est were John Mansville Asbes-
tos Mines, Kirkland Lake, Call-
ender, Watch Tower and flower
gardens at Parry Sound and the
Shrine at Midland.
Mr. Alf Anderson will be re-
lieving section foreman at Blyth
CPR section for the next month.

Mrs. Emerson Mitchell's
Thanksgiving topic told of the
first Thanksgiving and noted
in times of abundance folk are
prone to forget to be thankful,
Treasurer's & Secretary's reports
were given. Response to the roll
call was a -harvest verse. Mem-
bers were reminded the October
response was to be a Thanksgiv-
ing verse and also of a meeting
of all ladies the evening of Oct. 4
when Rev., A. Higginbotham will
give an explanation of a new or-
ganization. Mrs. W. Broadfoot
wished to be relieved of the of-
fice of quilt , convener. Members
were reminded the committee
would do quilting for anyone de-
siring it. The meeting closed with
hymn 565 "The day Thou gayest"
and the Benediction. Bible study
on the book of Thessolonians
was taken by Mrs. Broadfoot and
Mrs. Marshall. Hostesses were

ence at Keswick.
The Marion Ritchie Evening
Auxiliary held their September
meeting in the S. S. room of the
church with Mrs. Mervin Dow
presiding. The scripture lesson
was read by Mrs. Lorne Elliott'
and Mrs. Dow led in prayer.. The
roll call "A Quotation" was an-
swered by ten members. Reports
were given by the secretary and
the treasurer. During the busi-
ness period plans were made for
the Thankoffering meeting in
October and the uazaar in No-
vember. Thankyou notes were
read from Mrs. Bert Daynard and,
Mrs. Duncan Scott. Mrs. Frank
Hamilton gave a reading, "If Je-
sus came to your house". The .of-
fering was dedicated by Mrs.'
Dow. The topic, "Let God have
your life" was given by Mrs.
Wesley Russell. The meeting was.
closed with the Lord's Prayer.
A shower for Miss Muriel
Scott, bride elect of, this week,
was held at her home at Staffa
on Wednesday evening. A short
program was convened by the
C.G.hT. girls who contributed
several numbers in song with
Mrs. Gordon Laing accompany-
ing at the piano. A reading by
Connie McGhee and a contest,
were followed with an -address
read by Carol Ann Dow, when
the bride to be was presented
with many useful and beautiful
gifts by Darlene and Geraldine
Templeman. Marlene Dow, Alice
Walker, Shirley Gardiner and
Carol Ann Dow assisted Muriel
in unwrapping the parcels. Ladies!
displaying the trousseau and
gifts were 'Mrs, Duncan Scott,
Mrs, Alex Meikle, Mrs. Gary Fin-
layson, Lunch was served by the
girls, Muriel expressed her
thanks and invited all to visit
them in their new home.
