ance of 19. Mrs. R. Savauge was
in charge of devotions and Mrs.
J. M. Scott presided for the busi-
ness and introduced Mrs. Tom
Wilbee who showed pictures of
a recent trip ,through Quebec.
Lunch was provided by Mrs.
Moffat and Miss Sinclair. Mrs.
Lorne Dale expressed thanks of
the group to all who helped
make the evening a success.

A very enthusiastic meeting of
the Ladies' Aid of First Presby-
terian Church was held in the
Church hall on Tuesday after-

sided, During the business period
the members were reminded of
the annual bazaar which will be
held on Saturday. Nov, 4th. Mrs.
John Daley and Mrs. Robt. Mc-
Farlane sang a very pleasing
duet "Out of Ivory Palaces", ac-
companied by Mrs. John McGreg-
or. Mrs. W. John Thompson gave
au interesting resume of the life
history of Frances Ridley Hay-
ergal. Frances showed unusual
musical and writing ability very
early in life. She was a lover of
nature, poetry and also an ex-
quisite pianist. Mrs. Barbara
Sykes delighter the audience by
reciting several of her own
poems—some serious, some hum-
orous, A social hour brought to a
close a very enoyable meeting.

The St. Thomas W. A. Ladies
met at the parish hall on Tues-
day evening for the first of their
fall meetings. Mrs, McGavin, pre-
sident opened meeting with - a
prayer, followed by the reading
St, Peter 3: 8-13. Litany was
read with prayers for after holi-
days, prayer partner, members
and Lord's Prayer. Roll call, 8
ladies present, 2 guests, Mrs.
Smith, Mrs. Realm from Dublin.
Minutes from June meeting were
read followed by treasurer's re-
port. Mrs. McGavin thanked Mrs.
B. Brown for the sweater she
knitted for the box, Mrs. Case'
gave social service report. Mrs.
O'Shea will take over this work
for one month while Mrs. Case is
away. Collection was taken up
and dedicated followed by the
Benediction. The next meeting is
to be held at the Rectory, Oct. 3.
A social time was had by all.
GROUP W. A.
Group 4 W. A. Northside Unit-
ed Church met at the home of
Mrs. J. Coutts with 23 members
and 3 visitors present. Mrs. Lind-
say was in charge of the devo-
tional part of our meeting.
Roll call was answered by giv-
ing one of the Ten Command-
ments. Mrs. A. Riley, our treas-
urer has moved away and Mrs.
Jean Dill was appointed to fill
the position as treasurer for the
remainder of the year. Mrs. L.
Wright and Mrs. Corlett were in
charge of the program. It was
decided that we will have a quilt-
ing in October. Mrs. Rose Bowie
will be in charge of our aprons
when- they are brought to the
meeting.
Mrs. McCuaig thanked our
hostess and lunch committee.

Long Service
Awards Presented
A long service award wag pre-
seiited last Friday to Mr, Joseph
Riley by the Ontario Good Roads
Association at a, special session
of Huron County Council. Mr. Jo-
seph Riley retired after 45 years
of service with the Huron County
roads department, Mr. John
Snell, with 40 years 'service was
also presented with 43, certificate
of merit. The awards were pre-
sented by Mr. Hugh Lamb, of
London, a director of the Good
Roads Association.
