Girl Guides of Huron Division
held a very successful Field Day
in Hensall on Saturday, May 27.

munity Park. Division Commis-
sioner, Miss TJna MacDonald,
took the salute. Competition for
the Divisioncup, which was won
by the let Goderieh Co., was bas-
ed on marching, uniform, and
ceremonials. Second place was
also won by a Goderieh Company.
Games, a box lunch supper and
campfire completed the day's
activities. The Hensall Girl Guide
Association provided dessert and
drinks for the supper.

presided opening the meeting
with the Institute Ode, Mary

piano. The .minutes were read
and approved, •Mrs. Wm. Humph-
ries gave the Treasurer's report
showing a balance on hand of
$80.19. The display for Brussels
Fall Fair was discussed and it
was decided we enter this dis-
play. Committee: Mrs. Gerald
Watson, Mrs. Ralph Travis, Mrs.
Gordon McGavin, Mrs. Wm. Tha-
mer and Mrs. T. Dundas. A bus
trip to Niagara was planned for
June 5 or 6 with Mrs. Glen Cor-
lett, Mrs. Nelson Reid, Mrs. Ed.
Miller and Mrs. Doug Ennis as
conveners. Each member will be
asked to pay $1.00 down when
they give their name to go on the
trip.
Arrangements were . made to
hold a Garden Party in the hall
June 28th. A program will follow
the supper with Mrs. Ron Ben-
nett and Mrs. R. Barrows in
charge, Supper committee, Mrs.
Ken McDonald, Mrs. Donald Bu-
chanan, Mrs. Herb Travis, Mrs.
Roy Williamson and Mrs. H. Bol-

Women's Institutes will be invit-
ed as guests to the July meeting.
Mrs. Geo. Williamson and Mrs.
Roy Williamson were co -conven-
ers for Canadian Industries.
31 members answered the roll
call to "A new Canadian Industry
and its source." Mrs. R. William.
son gave the motto "Every time
you help someone up the ladder,
you are nearer the top yourself".
Mrs. Geo. Williamson introduc-
ed the two guest speakers, Mrs.
J. Brewer from Brussels, who
showed us some lovely articles
she had made from popsicle
sticks. She showed us how some
of the articles were made and
Ensiled a bun dish before lunch.
She very generously gave a bun
basket to the lucky teacup hold-
er, Mrs. Ken McDonald.
Mrs. D. A. Rann had four beau-
tiful paintings with her and told
us something of the work and
pleasure involved in painting.
Mrs. Roy Williamson thanked.
the two ladies and presented
them each with a gift.
The girls of the 4-11 Homemak-
ing Club modelled the dresses
they had made and put on a short
skit that they had used for ach-
ievement Day.
Mrs. Herb Travis and Mrs. Em-
erson Mitchell rendered a lovely
duet accompanied by Mrs, 'Jack
Bryans and Miss Eileen William-
son gave a piano instrumental.
The meeting closed with "The
Queen" and lunch was served by
the hostesses, Mrs. W. E. Turn-
bull, Mrs, J. Van Vliet Jr., Mrs,
Les Oliver, Mrs. W. J. Turnbull
and Mrs. Alvin McDonald.

visited with friends over the

Shirley Williamson, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Roy' Williamson
had the misfortune to fracture
her left leg recently, and Susan
Humphries, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Win. Humphries injured her
left arm which necessitated a
cast.
Dr. Glen Oliver and friend of
London were weekend guests at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie
Oliver.
The ladies of the Walton W.I.
are planning a bus trip to Nia-
gara Falls and Hamilton on Mon-
day, June 5th. Conveners for the

About 25 ladies -from Duff's Un-
ited Church attended a meeting
in Brussels United Church last
Wednesday evening to get infor-
mation regarding the new Wo-
men's Organization which comes
into effect in 1962.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sholdice
of Port Credit visited with Mr.
and Mrs. ' James McDonald on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ryan and Mr.
and Mrs. Laurence Ryan attend-
ed the Graduation in Ridgetown
last week. Ken Ryan, son of Mr,
and Mrs. Joe Ryan was one of
the graduates. He attended Sea -
forth District High School and
St. Jerome's in Kitchener, and
took a 2 -year course at W.O.A.S.
in Ridgetown. Won top honours
in the Ontario Credit Union Es-
say Contest. He was active in
year book Glee .Club and Stu-
dents' Council. He is now on the
staff of Beaver Lumber Ltd., at
Merlin, as a management trainee.

of Duffs' United Church, Sunday,

Tuckersmith were pleasantly sur-
prised on Friday evening May 26
when relatives gathered at their
home to celebrate their 25th Wed-
ding Anniversary. The evening
was spent playing cards, Jack
McEwing read an address and
Mervyn Pepper and Alex McEw-
ing made the presentation of sev-

The evening was spent in bingo
games after which a mock wed-
ding was staged by Mrs, John Ba-
ker, Mrs. Grant MacGregor, Mrs.
Wm, Baker, Mrs. George Parker
and Mrs. Murray Baker. The
bride -elect was seated in a decor-
ated chair and presented with an
end table and floral table centre.
