Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bedard and

visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Mattson.
The Hensall District Co -Opera-
tive has purchased a parcel of
land east of Zurich from Seth
Amman. It is planned to erect
a new feed mill on the land
which fronts the Blind Line.
Allan Armstrong, president of
the Co -Op said work is scheduled
to get under way this summer.
MRS. RUSSELL CARTER
Mrs. Russell. Carter, 54, of Sea -
forth, died Monday at Scott
Memorial Hospital. She was the
former Deborah Harrison. She
was born at Bracebridge, and
was married at Auburn in 1927.
Surviving are her husband;
two daughters, Dorene, Mrs. Wil-
liam Bolton, Stratford, and Miss
Leta Carter at home; two sons,
Ivan of Seaforth, and Murray of
Stratford; one sister, Rita, Mrs.
William Dodd, Auburn; •and one
brother Herbert, of McKillop.
The funeral was held from the
Box funeral home on Wednesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock, service be-
ing conducted by Rev. 5, H. Var-
dy of Egmondville.
The pallbearers were Albert Ba-
ker, Jack Smith, Jim Henderson,
Carl Dalton, John Skinn, Jim Ri-
ley. Flowerbearers: William Bol-
ton, Patrick Nigh, Allen Dale,
Elwin Wilson, ' -
ROBERT J. ELGIE
The community was saddened
to learn of the sudden passing of
a well-known resident, Robert J.
Elgie, on Monday, May 8th in his
70th year.
Born in Tuckersmith twp. he
Was the youngest son of the late
William Eigie and Hannah Tra-
quair. The deceased had spent
his entire life on the family
homestead, and was educated at
S.S. No. 9, Tuckersmith. He was
a faithful member of Kippen Un-
ited Church. His quiet disposition
and kindly manner won him
many friends throughout the com-
munity.
The late Mr. Elgie was married
in Dungannon to Miss Violet
Finnigan of Ashfield Twp, Sur-
viving besides his wife are two
daughters, Frances, Mrs. Don Mc-
Knight of Galt, Eleanor, Mrs. Ger-
ry Fisher, of Kitchener and a sis-
ter Lizzie, Mrs. John McLachlan,
of I3gmondville. Five grandchild-
ren also survive, A sister Jessie,
Mrs. Jno, Forrest and a brother
John, both of Tuckersmith Twp„
predeceased him.
Rev. H, Johnston of Kippen Un-
ited Church'honducted the largely
attended funeral service from the
Box Funeral Chapel on Thursday,
May 11. Interment was in Mait-
land Bank Cemetery, Seaforth.
The pallbearers were Messrs.
Vivan Cooper, Charles MacKay,.
Cecil Pullman, Stanley Jackson,
Ivan ,Forsyth, and Winston Work-
man.
Flowerbearers were Robert D.
Eigie, W;' H, Finnigan, Gerald
Neil, William Forrest, Robert Mc-
Lachlan, and John Finnigan.
