Grvenneth Hendrick 10, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs, Hugh Hen-
drick of RR 3, Kippen was treat-
ed and released from South Hur-
on Hospital, Exeter, on Wed. of
last week for injuries received
when she was struck in the face
with a bat while playing ball at
school. Gwenneth, a student at
.S.S. No. 14, Stanley, was struck
in the mouth by the bat and lost
4 lower teeth, loosening some of
the upper. The accident occurred
during a ball game in the school
yard at recess.
Mrs. Lloyd Lovell held 2 very
enjoyable quilting bees at her
home for members of group 3
of the W. A. of Kippen United
Church with leaders, Mrs• Ross
Love, Mrs. Ralph Turner, and
Mrs. Harold Jones. Those attend-
ing enjoyed a pot -luck dinner and
completed 2 quilts,
Mrs. Ralph Turner also enter-
tained group 3 of the W.A. to a
quilting bee when the members
enjoyed a pot -luck dinner and an
afternoon of quilting.
Group 2 of St. Andrews United
Church held a successful erokin-
ole party Friday evening at the
home of the leader, Mrs. Emer-
son Kyle, assisted by Mrs. Nor-
man Dickert and Mrs. Bert Faber.
Prizes were won by, ladies first,
Mrs. Lloyd Cooper; con., Mrs, H.
Turner, Men's first, Jack Consitt,
Collection amounted to $17.
A Kippen area man, his wife
and three children were admit-
ted to hospital in Chattanooga,
Tenn„ a week ago Monday fol-
lowing an accident in which their
car was forced from the road
when in collision with a truck.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Henderson
and their children had left Kip -
pen on the Saturday for a vaca-
tion in Florida, The accident in
which their car was demolished
occurred Monday as they were
driving through Tennessee. Mr
Henderson and the children suf-
fered cuts and bruises, but were
able to leave hospital Tuesday.
Mrs. Henderson received injuries
to her knee and is still in hospit-
al.
The WMS and W.A. met at St.
Andrews' Hnitsd Murch, Rippe s,
for the regular meeting 'with Mrs.
Allan Johnson' in charge of the
worship with the theme for etlt.
Psalm 746 was read in, unison. Rs,
velationd 3; 15.22 was read and a
paraphrase given op It, Hymn
277 was sung and the worship
closed with prayer, Mrs. Harold
Jones took charge of the remain-
der et the meeting. An invitation
to attend the thankoffering meet -
lug at rivet Presbyterian Church,
Seaforth, on March 38th was ac.
cepted alae to Duff's Church on.
April 19th, Delegates plan to at-
tend the Presbyterial to be held
at Win ham on April 6th.
A. skit "In a nursing home" was
given by Mrs. Ralph Turner, Mrs.
Russell Consitt and Mrs, Charles
Hay. Mrs, Turner also gave
some do's and dont's when visit-
ing, It was decided to have Miss
Iris Castle, Missionary on fur,
lough from St. Lucia, as the guest ,
speaker at 'the April thankoffer-,
lug meeting on Api'il 4th and to
invite Northside United Church,
Turner's Church and Byucefield
United Church ladies to hear
Miss. Castle who will also show
slides.
A short meeting of the W. A.
followed. Group 3 ,plans to hold a
bake sale at Drysdale's store on
March 25th at 3 p.m.

On March 13th 12 adults of the
Fireside Farm Forum met at the
home Of Mr. and Mrs; Hugh
Flynn. The subject for broadcast.
and discussion was Disease Con-
trol.
1. Individual farmers .can help
herd disease in livestock if they
would (a) keep stables clean and
disinfect db) report at once to a
veterinarian if they suspect. they
have a serious contagious disease
among stock or poultry. In the
past many have kept it a secret
in order to save expense and
work of a clean-up. (c) insist that
animals at community sales be
more closely inspected or disin
fatted;, (d) learn as much as
possible about the disinfection of
stock they own and begin- treat-
ment as soon as first noticed 111.
(e) insist that trucks be cleaned
and disinfected after delivery of
each load.
2. We need more research and
information on virus diseases and
mastitis. There are many diseas-
es among poultry which are not
understood. We wish for more
researdh on calf scour and cat
distemper,
