Paul's Anglican Church was held in
the Sunday School room 'with the

chair. Financial reports of the vari-
ous organizations of the church were
presented showing then to be in a
very healthy condition. The Rector
reported 1 baptism, 7 confirmed, and
two deaths. Officers for 1950 an -
pointed were Vestry Clerk, A. L.
Case. Rector's Warden, W. F. Riley;
Peoples' Warden, John Henderson;

egate to Synod, 5. L. Scott; substi-
tute, R. Cameron. A social half hour

Arnold Circle
The January ,neeting of the Arn-
old Circle Evening Auxiliary was
held at the home of Mrs. A. W.
Kerslake on Monday night with the
President, Mrs..Wm. Brown, presid-
ing, and opening the meeting with
the call to worship. Mrs. C. Forrest
gave an interesting item from the
Glad Tidings, Miss Joan Kerslake
favored with a piano selection. The
item from the (Record was given by
Mrs. Brown. Misses Gertrude Bell
and Marlene Petzkie played a piano
duet. The topic book was very capa-
hlv introduced by Mrs. H. Hoy deal-
ing with Japan which will be
studied during the year. The Busi-
ness was taken up and the roll call
answered by ,payment of fees. Re-
ports from the Huron Presbyterial
meeting held last week in Clinton
were presented by Mi's. Brown, Mrs.
;Stewart Bell. Mrs. C. Forrest, Mrs.
Mrs. 53. C. !Bell and Mrs. P. A. Fer-
guson. These reports were all very
interesting. The worship part of the
meeting was 'led by M'i'ss Jean Mc-
Oueen, reading an article on "The
Good 'Samaritan" followed by the
scripture reading. Luke 10: 25-37
by Mrs. Irwin. The meeting closed
by singing' "Blest be the Tie that
Binds" and the Lord's Prayer. Re-
freshments were served.
Chief Justice J. D. 'MCRner has
given it as his judgment that "Li-
ouor is at the root of most of the
rases of homicide coming before
the courts, acrd in some large mea-
sure responsible for the ;boo fre-
quent attacks on women and 'girls
and' other serious crimes. Liquor
and broken homes are the two
great forces for crime in our nom-
m initv." The iudgment of. the
Aief -justice should he enough to
deter any ronnnnnitr from open-
ing un or increasing its linuor out-
lets. The mere liaaur--the more
crime,--Advt.
