Mr. and Mrs. Gerald 'Cockwell and family, Exeter, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Otto Walker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Swindle and son Billy of London, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Miller. Frank and Leonard Houghton, 1Aringllam, visited over the weekend with Mrs. M. Houghton. Mrs. Calder McKaig presided at the Marian Ritchie Thankoffering meeting, which was held in the S. S. room on Thursday, with the WMS meinbers as guests. The' devotions were led by Miss Wilma James fol- lowed with prayer by Mrs. McKaig. The topic "Thanksgiving Thoughts" was given by Miss Olive Speare and a paper "Easy to live With" was read by Mrs. G. Carey. Mrs. L. B. Herold, Shakespeare, who is Corresponding Secretary of Stratford Presbyterial, was guest speaker, and gave an in- spiring address on "Serving God in the Horne". Mrs. F. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cudmore visited on Sunday with the latter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Stiles in Brussels. Mrs. Wm. Wender returned hone this week after visiting relatives in Windsor. Mrs. B. Brightmore returned to her home in London after spending some time with her sister and bro- ther-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cochrane. Little Lynn Gackstetter is holiday- ing with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Horney in Exeter. Mrs. Meredith and family of Osh- awa spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hyde. Presentation During the Sunday School hour in St. Andrew's United Church here on Sunday, Mrs. Robt. Dalrymple, Betty and Bonnie were presented with gifts. It is with regret that we are parting with Mrs. Dalrymple, who was an active teacher of the Primary Class. Bonnie and Betty were regular attendants of the Kind- ergarten and Primary Classes and will also be greatly missed. WALTON Mr. and NIrs. James Mowbray of Detroit, Mich., have returned to their hone in Detroit, after spend- ing a few days with Miss Mary Mow- bray. Mrs. William Granger is still con- fined to her bed with a heart condi- tion, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid, Mr. Jo- seph Hackwell, spent Sunday in Stratford with Mr. and Mrs. Don Grey. Dennis Bros. of the 14th of Mc- Killop twp., report finding a small balloon in one of their pasture fields, attached to it was a small battery and bulb, where it came from is still a mystery, possibly a result of Hur- ricane Hazel, which has caused so much damage and destruction. BOY SCOUTS APPLE DAY ON SATURDAY This year an extra big appeal has gone out for the support of the an- nual Boy Scout Apple Day which is being held on Saturday next. This yearly event is the main fund-raising project of the Troop, the proceeds of which are used for organization expenses of the Troop and the newly - formed Wolf Cub Pack and for the purchase of training equipment. A Wolf Cub Pack (for boys 8-12) has been started and nearly 50,young boys enrolled. This makes a total of almost 100 boys now receiving training in the Boy Scout movement. The -Scout Troop meets every Wed- nesday night with Scoutmaster J. R. Spittal in charge. The Wolf Cub Pack, because of its size, has been divided in half.
