The regular monthly meeting of
St. Columban C.W.L.' was held in the
church hall with the President, Mrs.
John Moylan presiding. The minutes
of the last meeting were read by the
secretary, Mrs. William McMillan.
The first Vice Pres., reported 106
paid up members. A parcel of litera-
ture was sent to Fr, Flaherty at Fort
William. Mrs. Kale gave a very in-
teresting reading on the Canadian
League Magazine. Mrs, Edward Mel-
ady and Mrs. Vincent Lane. volun-
teered to do the altars for July. Mrs,
Moylan and Mrs. McMillan gave an
excellent 'report on their trip to the
Convention in Chatham. The meeting
adjourned and closed with prayer.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Blansharcl of
Brussels visited with Mr. and Mrs. A.
Dolmage and called on other friends
in the village on Sunday.
Mr. Sani Pethiek and Mr. E. Haase
are each building a garage.
Mrs. Miles, who has been staying
with Mrs. Chambers, is in Scott Mem-
orial Hospital,
Mr. and Mrs. E. Toll spent the
weekend in Collingwood with Mr. and
Mrs. J. Hogg.
A special meeting of W.M.S. Cav-
an ladies was held on June 2nd in
the church, when they entertained
Constance, Burns' and Walton Socie-
ties. Mrs. W. Dodds presided for the
worship service with Mrs. F. John-
ston presiding at the organ. Scrip-
ture was read by Mrs. R. Doig with
prayer by Mrs. L. Bolton. Words of
welcome were given by Mrs. J. Boyd.
A duet by Mrs. C. Moon, Mrs. E. Bell
accompanied by Mrs. G. Watt from
Burns'. Mrs. G. Addison from Con-
stance, a lovely piano instrumental.
Mrs. J. Bryans from Walton played
a medley of hymns. Mrs. Dodds in-
troduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Mc-
Gill from Clinton, Pres. of centre
section as well as •Sec. of W. A. Hur-
on Organization. Mrs. McGill gave a
report of the conditions existing in
foreign lands, such as Korea, and
stressed the great need for food,
clothing, hospitals, churches, medical
care as well as schools etc. She em-
phasized that we act now and we
must care for these unfortunate peo-
ple before it is too late, as the com-
munists are grasping every oppor-
tunity to thy to show these discourag-
ed Koreans that the communists' way
of life is the only way. Words of ap-
preciation were given by Mrs. E. Toil,
Closing prayer by Mrs. Livingstone.

Master Jack Chipchase returned
home from St. Joseph's hospital
where he has been receiving treat-
ment following an accident in which
his toes were badly cut in a power
lawn mower.
Miss Pauline Bell visited during
the past week with her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs: Guy Bedard
in London.
Mrs, Wm. Brown was taken to St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, on Satur-
day by ambulance, Her many friends
wish her a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Robert Cook and Mrs. Doug-
las Cook attended the graduation tea
at the Spring Convocation of the U.
W. 0. at which their sister-in-law,
Miss Eleanor Cook B.Sc.N. was a
graduate.
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Neeb of Tavi-
stock are spending a few days at the
home of their son -1n -law and daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Brown of
Crodition visited recently with Mr.
and Mrs. Archie MacGregor.
DUBLIN
Michael McCarthy, Dublin, 86,
died May 18th in Toronto at the
home of his son Tont where he resid-
ed for the past year. His wife, the
former Nora Kirwin died in 1945,
after which he resided with his daug-
hter, Mrs. D. P. Monaghan in Mitch-
ell before going to Toronto a year
ago. Born in Killaloe, 11e moved to
Dublin vicinity in 1921, moving to
Dublin in 1927. Surviving are Lloyd
and Jack of Dublin; Matthew of De-
troit; Mrs. D. P. Monaghan of Kitch-
ener; Mrs. Gordon Palin, Mike and
Tom of Toronto; Dan of Windsor,' be-
sides many nieces and nephews, a
daughter, Mrs. James Sullivan (Sar-
ah) of Killaloe predeceased him in
1986, a son Bill on April 11, 1958.
The funeral took place from the
home of his son Lloyd in Dublin on
Friday morning at 10 a.m. with a sot=
emn high mass celebrated by Rev.
Fr, Foulkes. Burial in the adjoining
cemetery. Pallbearers Joe Carpent-
er, Pat Maloney, Toni O'Rourke, Dan
Costello, Joe O'Connell, Jack Meagh-
er. Those attending the funeral were
Mr.. and Mrs. Matt, McCarthy, Doug-
las, Mrs. Edward Violante of De-
troit, Dan McCarthy of Windsor; Mr.
and Mrs. D. P. Monaghan, Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Monaghan of Kitchen-
er; Mrs. Gordon Palin, Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas McCarthy and
daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Mike NIc-
Carthy and Joan, Miss Lorine and
Vincent Barrett of Toronto; Greg
Sullivan of London; Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Hart and family of Stratford;
Mr. Cyril and James Sullivan, J. T.
McCarthy, Mrs. Wm. Costello, Mrs.
Joe Cuddy, all of Killaloe. There
were many spiritual and floral bou-
quets to show the high esteem in
