sulphur water so we went in there
and "cooked" for a few minutes.
But I forgot to tell you that we .
saw ten mountain sheep, on top of
this mountain and corning down I
found a quarter which I intended to
keep as a souvenir but didn't.
Sunday, our last day, it was rain-
ing and snowing in the mountains,
so we left for Balzac where these
people live. We had three miles of
dirt road to cover and the smooth
tires on the car were no asset. Mr.
Rosenberger got out to push. Lorna
drove, and .I, well I rolled up my
slacks over my knees, tied my hair
up in my kerchief, took off niy shoes
and out I went in the rain and mud
to push. Was that mud ever cold on
bare feet. Twice as cold when you
fall down in it—which I did. When
we arrived home it was almost im-
possible to tell if I was Shirley or,
as Daddy would say, Paul Bunyan's
daughter.
Arrived home Tuesday night with
the flu, but it was'a swell time.
I think I've given you most
of the news and I don't think I can
scribble another word, so good -bye -
now, Love, Shirley.
