Red Cross Notes--
In
otes—In a friendly atmosphere of patriot-
ic good -will 26 ladies of Varna com-
niunity met in the Red Cross work-
rooms on Wednesday afternoon, with
two quilts in the frames. The needles
were kept very busy, There were
three sewing machines almost cont;
nously on the hum, while other lad-
ies were doing hand -work on little
dresses and pressing finished arti-
cles. The click of busy knitting need-
les was heard over in -a corner. Beau-
tiful quilt tops are being donated each
week. Sometimes linings as well. Re-
cently a message was .read from
;Queen Elizabeth expressing her deep
appreciation of the beautiful quilts
being made and donated t0 Britain
by the Canadian Red Cross. Her maj-
esty mentioned especially of visiting
a home for aged women. What a note
of individuality, cheerfulness and
comfort these quilts gave to the beds.
