SEAFORTH SWINE CLUB
The June meeting of the Sea=
forth 4-H Swine Club was held
at Robt. McMillan's on June 17
with 16 members present. We
judged a class of Yorkshire
sows and Mr. Wm. Turnbull
gave the official plaeings. We
answered a quiz which was cor-
rected by our guest speaker,
Don Slinger of Guelph. The min-
utes were read and adopted. The
roll eall was "Do you feed your
pigs 75 �lr of the time?" Mr.
Slinger then spoke on diseases
and proper care of our pigs. a0-
bert McMillan reminded us of
the 4-11 train trip to Toronto on
July 19th. Bolt Broadfoot then
thanked our guest speaker and
Mae Sholdice moved a vote of
thanks to our host Mr. McMil
las. The meeting was then ad
journed. Mr. Scott Cluff treated
us to delicious refreshments.
McKillop Charge
Honors Minister
Presentation: Cavan Church
was well filled on Friday even-
ing when the congregations of
Cavan, Duff's and Bethel assem-
bled to do honor to Rev. and
Mrs. H. 16. Livingstone who are
leaving shortly to make their
home in London, They came to
the McKillop Charge in 1950
and have made many friends
who wish them well in their re-
tirement. Rev. W. M, Thomas
of Duff's Church, Walton, made
an able chairman. The program
was opened with the singing of
0 Canada and two popular songs.
Rev. Thomas expressed the ap-
preciation of those present and
brought geetings from his own
church. A reading was given by
Mr. Gordon MacKenzie which
.was followed with a solo by
Christine Pryce, accompanied by
her mother, Mrs. Les Pryce. Mr.
Oliver Anderson gave a humor-
ous reading and a piano instru-
mental was played by Billie
Campbell. A reading was given
by Mrs. Earl Mills. Jean and
Margaret Hillen contributed a
piano duet. An organ solo by
Mrs. Frank Johnston was fol-
lowed by a reading by Mrs. Ro-
bert J. Doig. The atidrence was
invited to the school room when
the ladies of the W. A. served a
delicious hutch; During the
lunch hour, Mrs. Eldon Kerr
read an address to Rev. and Mrs,
Livingstone and Mrs. Gilbert.
Smith, Mrs. Geo. Campbell, Mrs.
Win. Roe, and Mrs. Archie Som-
erville presented them with a
chesterfied and chair to match.
Rev. and Mrs. Livingstone re-
plied and thanked the members
for their kindness and thought-
fulness. The meeting closed with
singing "Blest Be The Tie That
Binds".
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Elliott,
Moorefield, and Mr. and Mrs.
Janes Elliott, Owen Sound, and
Mr. and Mrs. Wn. Elliott and
son of Listowel visited their bro-
ther, Mr. Wilfred Elliott who is
in Scott Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Leslie McSpadden of
Camp Borden spent the week
end with his parents, Mr, .and
Mrs. Wm. G. McSpadden.
Miss Isabel Betties of Galt
was a weekend guest of her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs, Theron Bet-
ties,
Many friends will regret to
learn that Mrs, Finlay McKerch-
er is in Scott Memorial Hospital.

meeting on Tuesday, June 14, in
the auditorium of the Church.

gave a very interesting and in-
spiring address. A number was
given from each Society which
was much enjoyed. Lunch was

All crops benefited consider-
ably from the heavy week -end
rains. Many farmers have com-
pleted the making of grass sil-
age and haying is becoming gen-
eral in the County. Twelve hun-
dred and thirty-five people at-
tended the Huron County 4-H
Club Leaders' Barbecue. The
Western Ontario Aberdeen Ang-
us Picnic held in the County on
June 16th was also well attend-
ed.
The Hon. Fletcher S. Thomas,
Minister of Agriculture, this
week announced the appoint-
ment of Mrs, Dorothy Fil-
i singer, B, H. Se., as Home
Economist for Bruce and Huron
Counties. Mrs. Filsinger is a na-
tive of Lambton County, and a
1955 graudate of Toronto Uni-
versity

versity having taken three years
of her course at Macdonald In-
stitute, Guelph.
Mrs, Filsinger will have her
(Office in Walkerton at the De-
partment of Agriculture.
Mrs. Filsinger is interested in
young people and is aware of
