A quiet wedding " was solemnized
at the parsonage, 'Varma, on Tuesday,
April 9th, at 9 a.m., when Rev. J. R.
Peters united in marriage Miss
Margaret Jean Garvie, daughter of
Mrs. and the late James A. Cantle,
of Stanley, and Robert J. Greer, son
of Mr, and Mrs, Robt. Greer, of the
Blue Water Highway. The bride wore
a street length dress of navy sheer
With accessories to match. The con -
Ole were attended by Miss Charlotte
Ilene Greer, sister of the groom, and
Robt. M. Turner. After the ceremony
the wedding party drove to the home
of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Westlake,
where a reception was held and wed-
ding breakfast served. The bridal
couple left amid showers of confetti
and good wishes of friends for a trip
to Toronto and points north. The
bride chose a navy coat and hat with
rose accessories for travelling. The
invited guests were Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Howard of Exeter
uncle and aunt of the bride, whose
thirty-seventh anniversary fen on the
saute day. On their return they will

On the Saturday previous Mrs.
G. E. Westlake held a trousseau tea
in honour of her sister Jean. Mrs,
James Allan of Hensall and Mrs. G.
S. Howard of Exeter poured tea in the
afternoon assisted by Ilene Greer and
Violet Turner, while Mrs. R. Allan
and Mrs. C. H. Haugh of Brucefleld
assisted by Mary Snowden and Betty
Allan had charge at night, Those as-
sisting with the trousseau were Mrs.

hall last Friday night was well at,

lunch several hours were spent in
dancing.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Eaton, Larry
and Keith, spent a few days with Mr.

The mild weather and rains have
caused the water to rise. We had our
regular spring flood over the roads
in the village, several places.
Mrs. Gillies and children spent the
past week in Owen Sound with Mr.
Gillies who expects to start sailing
the great lakes on the Captain Secord.
Mr. Harry Eddicott, who has been
engaged as fireman on a freight boat
on the great lakes is waiting for a
call to report at Port Colborne. We
wish hint success iu his new under-

The euchre and dance put on in the

our supply quilts. After singing 'hymn

exander pronouncing the 'benediction.

The Egmondville W.M.S. held their
April meeting on Thursday evening
as ,guest of the Neil Shaw Auxiliary.
A short business period was conduct-
ed by the president Mrs. Gardiner.
Visiting committee reported Having
made eleven calls. Mrs. McMillan and
Mrs. George Coleman were appointed
as visiting committee for April. Mrs.
McMillan and Mrs, Nott were up.

Church held their April meeting at
the home of Mrs. W. Cooper o11
Wednesday afternoon with a good at-
tendance. The meeting opened with
quiet music played by Mrs. Render•
son, followed by the call to worship
by Mrs. Chandler, who presided.
Hynur 119 was then sung, followed by
a responsive reading, Hymn 112 was
sung and the scripture reading, John
1-1:14, was read by Mrs. Chandler.
This was followed by meditation and
prayer in unison. The offering and roil
