Enjoy Bus Tour -
The bus tour sponsored by the
Seaforth W. L. last Tuesday, July
29th was enjoyed by all 41 tour -
rete. Leaving Seaforth at 6.30
a.m. we travelled to the Agricul-
ture School at Ridgetowu, then
to the farm of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Kerr and. family near
Chatham, We proceeded to Te-
cumsehPark, Chatham, for din-
ner, which was only a short dis-
tance from the shopping centre.
In the a prnooiz, we toured the
Libby, Mc eil,-'and Libby canning
factory at Chatham•then drove
to Wallaceburg where five visited
the Dominion Glass Works. From
there we followed • the scenic
drive along the St. Clair River to
Sarnia, then across to London
where we dined at the Three Lit-
tle Pigs Pentry. Before leaving
for home we went out to Spring-
bank Park near London. Douglas
Keyes, assistant 'seri. rep., of
Kent County and Mrs. Keyes ar-
ranged and accompanied us on
our tour in Kent County,
Or Tuesday. afternoon about 4
o'clock fire destroyed one of the
cattle sheds at the fair grounds.
Built three years ago by the fair
boardto provide improved ac-
eominodation 'for exhibits, it was.
of pole barn type of construction,
open at the sides. A quantity of
hog pens stored in the middle
were also destroyed. The shed
was 25 x 100 feet. A matching
shed just eolith of it, built a year
earlier, was saved.
The Eire was started in straw
by two small boys playing with
matches. When the blaze got out
of control they ran and told Mrs.
Close' who phoned in the alarm.
The fire broke out again two
or three Utiles later during the
evening.
As this is.the third and critical
year in the endeavor to become a
Glass B. fair; it is expected the
shed will have to be rebuilt .im
mediately in time for the fair in
• September. A. meeting to make
definite pians is called for Aug.
140.
Insurance of $1000 was carried,
which will not cover the loss.
There was no insurance on the
100 hog pen gates.

containing 51 pairs of lines was
cut by the digger laying' the gas
mains at corner of E. William and
Goderich streets. Every precau-
tion has been taken by the con-
tractors against such mishaps,
but it was "just one of those
things".

Old Sheds Goy Make
Housing Lots
An old lumber shed on the
corner of East William and
Franklin streets is being torn
down by Seaforth Lumber Ltd.,
owners of the property, which has
been named since moving to
their new location a couple of.
years ago.
It is understood that the firm
intends to erect one or two new
houses on this lot, but how soon
has not been decided.
Tlie shed, 100x25, wasbuilt
about 45 years ago. Another shed,
60 feet long, built 70 years ago
will also be taken down. Mr. Bert
Cluff, 83, says he can vouch for
the age of this building because
Ile helped to build it the year he
quit high school.
A brick building, also to be de-
molished, was the . engine and
boiler house of the original 14.
Cluff planing hill on North
Main St., where the Lemon house
now is.
Mr. Cluff remembers that when
his father built the shed and
started storing, lumber' under
cover instead of exposed to the
weather, it was considered "new-
fangled", but proved a complete
success. The old stables facing on
East William St. have already
