CROP REPORT
Haying operations are now gen-
eral throughout the County. Bar-
ley is headed out and in most
fields the straw is very short.
Thinning of sugar beets has
been completed in most of the
County, Showers over the week-
end were of great vain to the
white bean crop, says A. S. Bol-
ton, Assistant Agri, Rep, for Hur-
on County.
The comparative slow growth
of crops this spring makes the
problem of weeds and insects
more troublesome than usual.

The little fellows really go for Purina Baby Pig
Chow, And so do our customers! Everybody who
buys it comes back for more. They find it just the
thing to get them started eating, make them grow
and keep them, healthy.
Little pigs will start on these tasty pellets at 5 -10
days of age. Only 50 fibs are required for a litter -
just enough to get them, away to a fast start.
We are also having excellent results raising orphan
pigs on Baby Pig and Nursing Chow. Saving a little
pig to -day really means profit.
Also see the new Caswell farrow -crate for saving
every pig farrowed.

A PLACE TO PARK
I'm just one of these" countrY
hicks, who come from way out in
the. Styx, to voice my woe and
make >a plea for all the othel
boobs like me, We work like heck
six days a week, and when we're
done we like to sneak to our
home town to buy some eats, and
meet our neighbors on the street.
We can't' take off no working
day, for if we do there's' heck to
pay. You folks in town don't do
that way, you do your buying ev
ery day, and that's why I don't
think it right to hog the street
on farmers' night. You've got
your ears parked on the street
before we hicks" sit down to
eat. Then we must slop the hogs
and feed the sow, coax all the
Wee from bossy cows, pick up
the eggs, coop up the hens, shave
off the whiskers (if we're men),
dress in overalls and calico, einee
hogs have gone so gosh darned
low, crank up the'"flivver, give
her juice, then start for town,
but what's the use? The streets
are lined far up and clown with
care of folks who live in town,
who seem to think it's quite a
treat, to see us "rubes" stagger
up the street with butter, jars
and eggs and cream, but say, it
takes a lot of steam to lug the
stuff six blocks or more, you
walk until your feet get sore.
Your shoulders ache, you're seein'
red, you wish that you were home
in bed, and then you spy that
yellow paint that's put just
where the autos ain't; there's
two cars where there should be
three, they've straddled that
there mark you see. It's our town
too, so please be fair, we want to
spend our nickles there; you've
watched us long enough to see
we need a parking place, by gee.

Another big, week -end
coming up?
Yes, a summer week -end can mean a 1otof fun for you
and your family. But it means a lot of other things
too -many more cars on the highway, many more
drivers in a hurry to start their week -end or to ,get
home again. It can also mean many more accidents
and more patients for hospital emergency wards. If
you're taking the family away for the week -end in
your car, be sensible about ,it. Watch your speed. .,
Avoid impatience.' Drive so that you and your family
-and the other drivers you meet on the road -arrive
alive. When you're on the road, always drive at a
speed that will enable you to stop in the distance
between you and the car ahead. At night, drive at the
speed that will enable you to atop within headlight.
range. If you are tired or inattentive, do not drive at
all. Make next week -end a big week -end but make
sure you enjoy it properly... not in a hospital bed.
Your Ontario Department of Transport urges you to
observe the speed limits -slow down and live.
