POULTRY PROGRAM
A new 4-H poultry club pro-
gram is !being started in Huron
County this year.
Inpast years tl\e emphasis
has been on the production of.
meat, from dual purpose .breeds,
however this year, the emphasis
will be on egg production with
the flacks being scored for pro-
duction, management, feed con-
version, cost of production and
the percent mortality. Club
members will be required to
keep'.good records in detail and
must be active in the club !con -

as guest speaker. It is hoped
that a large number of parents
and prospielctive members will' be
in attendance at this meeting.
40TH ANNIVERSARY
A family dinner and open
house marked the 40th' wedding
anniversary of Mr. and MTs. A.
Baker, 'Seaforth. Recently the
neighbors surprised the honored
couple at the home of IMr. and
Mrs. Norman Scoins and pre-
sented them with a table lamp.
On April 26 .the Baker faim
ily of six children returns to
their home for a family dinner
and presented their parents with
two upholstered chairs. '
Mr. and Mrs. Baker were
married April 24th, 1.9118, at
!Brussels by Rev. J. A. Mann
of the (Brussels Presbyterian
,Church, standing up with them
was her sister Elsie, now Mrs.
Mike Kelly ofCentralia, and
William Connell, now of Wind-
sor.
Following the ceremony the
-couple returned to the home
where they still reside. Mrs.Ba-
ler is the former Janet Gorman,
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Alexander Conran of
Brussels. Mr. Baker's Parents
were the late Mr. and )Mrs.
Thomas (Baker, ISeaforth, The
celebrants have six children,
Janet, Mrs. Albert Kinnear, 'St.
Catharines, Alex of Mitchell;
Aubrey, IOanlp Borden; William
at h'oune;:IG:ar+field •of Exeter,
and Joan at home. Also eleven
grandchildren.
On the evening of April 30th,
Mrs. Ruby Bethune held a party
and 'presented the couple with
an aluminum Mazy-susan, and a
biffi olid.
MISS ELLEN DUFFY
Miss Ellen Duffy died' in the
(Scott Memorial hospital. Sea -
forth, on Friday. Miss Duffy
had been in (poor health for
some time. Born in (McKillop
twp. where she received her ed-
ucation and lived all her life,
she had been a resident of 'Sea -
forth for the avast '4111 years.
She was the last survivor of a
family of seven. She, was 89.
The funeral was held on IMgn-
day, May 5, at 9.15 a.m. A re-
quiem high mass was sung by
the Rev. E. P. Weber at St.
James' Roman Catholic' Church
at 9.30 a.m. Burial was in St.
James' Cemetery.

the growth is slow most of these
crops were well rooted !before
the weather turned eol•d.
Rain last weekend did a great
deal to promote growth in all
plants and was acclaimed the
million 'dollar rain by farmers in
this`district. A reasonable dry
spring has made it possible for
farmers with early pastures to
turn some of their livestock out
for the summer. If warm wea-
ther returns :most of the corn
will Ibesown during the next
week.

NOTICE OF HOLDING AN
Aavance Poll
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to The
Election Act, 1951 (Section 88), a poll for the Elec-
toral District of Huron will be open on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, the 8th, 9th and 10th days of
May, 1958, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and from 7 p.m.
until 10 p.m. E.S.T. (9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
until 11 pni. D.S.T.)
The polling places for the said electoral district
will be located at the Town Hall, Exeter, M. E.
Clarke's Garage, Seaforth, and Mrs. Geo. Beacom's,
East Street, Goderich, for the purpose of receiving
the votes of voters who expect to be absent from
the electoral district on the day fixed for polling.
The ballot boxes will be opened and the votes
counted at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. D.S.T.) of the 12th day of
May at the said places.
