IThe iOntario WiheetlPnoducers
Annual meeting was held in 'the
King Edward Hotel„ Toronto,
March '5th. '
(Mr. Reg. Myers was returned
as president and Mr. 'Russel Bol-
ton was returned as Sone •direc-
ton for Huron, (Perth, Bruce and
'Grey counties. Mr. Edgar dem-
on was elected director at large
for this area. The allocation of
•delegate; for the present, is on
the nue nber of acres sown but
as soon as statistics are a-iail-
able on bhe number of bushels
sold the allocation will be made
on that 'basis, probably two
years hence.
IMr. Myers, in his address,
stated that unless something is
done within :the next two years
Agriculture in bhe United States
will' be controlled by large Cor-
porations. We, in 'Canada will
soon he in the same position if
we fail to make use of the Mar-
keting Legislation which our
Provincial and Federal 'Govern-
ments have made available to us.
!According to Mr. Myers the
percentage of the consumers
food dollar that the producer
receives 'has dropped from .66%s
to 40% in the past five years.
Any increase in efficiency bhat
has been gained by the farmer
has resulted in a reduced price
to the (consumer rather than an
increase in income to the farri-
er,
Sir. Myers also suggested
that there was need for improv-
ed grading regulations at the
producer level, ,Compensation
should be arranged so that stor-
age costs can be added whether
bhe grain is stored on the farm
or in an elevator. One thing
ur-
gently needed is producer
owned
or at .least producer (controlled
storage.
Freight subsidies on western
grain are working a real hard-
ship on (Ontario producers of
wheat but (perhaps the greatest
weakness of the 'past has been
the 'lawk of accurate statistics on
production and sale of this pro-
duct. As soon as the Marketing
Board begins operating this in-
formation will become available
and will prove very valuable
when the Board negotiates a
price.

duced Mr. Nixon of 'Nixon La-
boratories, who addressed the
meeting on, Prevention and
cures of diseases in cattle, hogs
and calves Ile stated today the
farmer had to be able to detect
and be prepared to render cures
and keep on hand the most
needed remedies, he statedmost
losses were causedby waiting
till tomorrow to do something.
He explained that a lot of loss-
es could be helped very cheaply
if rendered in time. Mr. Nixon
answered questions from bhe
floor, and offered to send a
pamphlet on "Cures and Reme-
dies of Diseases" to each mem-
ber requesting one,
In closing, Mr. Nixon stated

lated them on their leadership.
