EMERGENCY MEETING OF
HOG PRODUCERS' ASSOC'N.
Toronto, Nov. 4 -Reports from
representatives of 14 counties un-
der the directional . program .of
the Ontario Hog Producers were
presented at a special meeting of
the Ontario f=log Producers' As-
sociation held in Toronto Mon-
day.
The reports indicated that a
big percentage of farmers in the
14 counties were unanimously be-
hind the directional program..
Whatever- resistance was in ex-
istence according to these re-
ports, stemmed from transpor-
ters.
The meeting was told that the
provincial government had ord-
ered a vote on the hog market-
ing plan. James Haggerty of
Perth county told the meeting
that when the time came for such
a vote, hog, producers should re-
member that they were casting a
vote on an issue far broader than
the 'question of assembly points
and directional ,marketing. , Mr.
Haggerty said that "hog produc-
ers will be voting on whether the
hog industry is to be farmer con
trolled through co-operative ac-
tion or is it to be turned back into
the hands of the packer:'-'
