The'entire district was shock-
ed when at was learned that Mr.
'Wilber t, Hunter ,had passed a-
way in his 'sleelp,in the Itenro'b-
ert. Hospital after a short ill-
ness. Mr. Hunter came here
from ,Ontario with his family in
1917 and has farmed here con-
tinuously one mile west of Sal-
vador. -!He will be missed as he
was. active in ell phases of com-
munity affairs. He sat on ,the
school board for many years and
was 'a member . of the United
Church Board. the was an ard-
ent curler and at all times sup -
Ported all community worth-
while 'projects. Mr. Hunter was
a good neighbor and a true
friend to all. ,He is survived by
O.E.S.

presided. The theme for the
meeting was "Unity• for the
Honour of the Gospel". IHynwr
199 was sung followed with a
prayer by Mrs. Mills. The scrip-
ture lesson from (Phillipians 1:
27=80; 2: 1-4 was read by (Mrs.
Ross Leeming' and the stalk re-
lating; to .the scripture was giv-
en by Mrs. Mills. Mrs. Wm, Roe
led in prayer. A Temperance
reading was given by Mrs. Mills.
Three questions from the pro-
gram leil to some discussion.
The topic from Conversations
on Japan entitled 'Men' are in
the News" was presented by
Mrs. L. Leaning with Mrs. S.
Hiller assisting, ,It dealt with
what the laymen were doing in
Japan.
In the business section of the
meeting we were remind'ediiiha,t
it is now time to renew our sub-
scriptions to the Missionary
Monthly. The treasurer reported
that '$76 had been raised so far.
A few words of welcome to Mrs.
Sunn ,er:+ell were expressed by
Mrs. Mills, Hymn 164 "The
Church's One Foundation" was
sung and the meeting was closed
by Mrs. (Mills.
Mrs. Wm. Roe had charge of
the W. A. meeting and 'opened
it with prayers. The minutes of
the last meeting were read and
the roll call taken with 20 mem-
bers present. An invitation to
meet with the Moncrief lathes
on 'Wed: Oct. ,30 ,was accepted.
A bake sale is to be held in
Dick Box's !Store on Sat. Oct, 19.
A pot luck supper was planned
with ,the date to be set later,
The coppers are to be brought
in .at the next meeting. This
date, Nov. '7th is final es the
losing side are to put on some
form of entertainment for the
winners.
The total cost of decorating
the Church was $187.50. Hymn

Jesus" was sung and Rev. Mr.

Church was 'held on Thursday
afternoon, Oct. 13 in the church
basement. Mrs. (Gordon McGav-
in presided with Mrs. Bert
Johnston as pianist. The meet-
ing opened with 'hymn "What
a Friend we 'have in Jesus", fol-
lowed by scripture comments
and prayer by ,Mrs, McGavin.
Mrs. A. Coutts gave the treas-
urer's report and minutes of
the last :meeting were read by
Mrs. (Ronald 'Bennett, also an in-
vitation to the Moncrieff ba-
zaar to be held on Oct. 30. This
was accepted. The anniversary
services will be held Oct, 20.th
with Rev. C. ,Krug of Belgrave
as guest speaker. Morning and
evening services to be held 11
a.m. and 7.30 p.m. (DST). Dis-
cussion was :held on the Turkey
Supper to the held Wednesday,
Oct. 23rd commencing at 5.30
p.m. ((DST). All tickets for the
supper to be handed to the
group leaders before Oct. 21st.
It was decided that .the W.A.
would serve for the Mother and
Daughter OGTT banquet to be
(held !November 116th. The hymn
"Breathe on me Breath of God"
and the 'Benediction closed this
part of the meeting.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald opened
the WAILS meeting with a verse
of scripture. The roll call was
answered with a Thanksgiving
verse and the minutes of the
last aneeting were read by Mrs.
Robert McMichael. The dele-

Presbyterial are Mrs. ,Emmer-
