The WMIS of Duff's United
Church was held in the school
room last Thursday afternoon.
The meeting was in charge of
Mrs. :Alvin McDonald, president,
with Mrs. David Watson acting
as pianist. Following the call to
worship and opening . hymn,
Psalm 28 was repeated in uni-
son. Mrs. Roht. McMichael read
the minutes of the last meeting
and the roll call answered with
"Another Name Jesus is known
by". The following thankyou
cards were read from the ladies
who received cake from the 70th
anniversary of the WiMS., Mrs.
Lillian Livingstone, Mrs. P.
Gardiner, 'Mrs. R. Lundy, Mrs,
W. Davidson, Mrs. Gilbert

vote of thanks was rendered to
Mrs. N. Reid for the making of
the anniversary cake. and Mrs.
Eyre for decorating it. Mrs. R.
Achilles gave the financial state-
ment. A delegate to Alma Col-
lege was registered and will at-
tend from Aug. 26 to 30th. The
Baby Band and their mothers
Will be tinvited to the August
meeting. Lunch of cookies and
sandwiches will be served. The
W.M.S. will give a small dona-
tion to the Baby Band to defray
expenses at the meeting.
The topic on "Senior Citi-
zens" was taken by the 17th of
Grey and 'Boundary. Those tak-
ing part were Mrs. CM Ritchie,
Mrs. Wm.:Bennett and Mrs. Jas.
Clark. The nneebing closed with
the (Benediction.
The W. A. Meeting was con-
ducted by Mics. Nelson 'Reid, 2nd
Vice president. Mrs. Ronald Ben-
nett gave the secretary's report
and read the thankyou cards
and the financial statement gi-
ven by Mrs. A. 'Goatts. It was
decided to have a "Fall Get-to-
gether" on Sept. 4th after the
completion of re -decorating the
church to be in the form of a
pie and ice cream social. Each
group is to look after the plan-
ning of the program. A small
admission of 25e and children
10c will be charged. The annual
Sunday School picnic will be
held IiVbonday, Italy 1515 in the
Seaforth Lions Park. It will be
in the form of a potluck sup-
per. The Walton group will be
responsible for setting of the
table and McKillop group, the
cleaning up. 'Supper to com-
mence at 7 pen.
The W. A. decided to give a
donation of $25.00 towards the
OGAT Camp at 'Goderioh, Mrs.
N. Reid closed the meeting with
scripture reading and prayer.

be was guest of honor at a mis-
cellaneous shower in the school
room of the church on Friday
evening. (Mrs. Wm.' Turnbull
was in charge of the following
program: Solo, Marilyn John-
ston; piano duet, (Marion and
Barbara Turnbull; vocal duet,
Brenda and Glenna Houston; a
reading, Mas. Gordon MnGavin;
contests: Mss. Wm. 'Turnbull,
the bride -elect, her mother, Mrs.
A. Turnbull and the groom's
mother, Mrs. E. Hesk were call-
ed to the platform which was
decorated in colors of pink and
white and bouquets of flowers.
Mrs. 3. *(Smith read an address
after whi-ch the gifts were pre-
sented by Marilyn Johnston,
Donna Smith and Marian and
Bait:ara Turnlbull. The guest of
honor thanked the ladies for the
'beau'tilful gifts and also all who
had helped 9n any way. Refresh-
ments were served by the la-
dies.

IMr. Ongley, writer of the let-
ter, as we all know, walked the
Vice Regal carpet and had to
retract the letter.
