The joint meeting of the
W.M.S. and W. A. was held in
the Church basement on Wed-
nesday, June 5th with a splendid
attendance. Mrs. Durst W. A.
President, was in charge of the
opening service, which began by
singing the hymn "0 Master let
me walk with Thee", Mrs. J.
Aikenhead read the scripture
lesson from Jab 2 1-10. The
topic "Integrity" based an
verse 3 was given by Mrs. A.
Boyes who also ledin prayer.
During the business'` period a
letter of appreciation was read
from Mrs. A. G. Broadfoot.
'Mrs. Alex Chesney gave an in-
teresting report of the Huron
Presbyterial W. A. meeting.
She stressed the address which
was given by Rev. Jane Bone,
who is -one of the leaders at
L'Five Oaks" near Paris. Many
worthwhile short courses can be
taken there. Matters of im-
provements that the W. A. will
be responsible for in connection
with the proposed renovations
to the -church, were dealt with
and committees were named for
different projects. The W. A.
will sponsor the showing of the
Royal Film, "Nigeria Greets Her
Queen", on Sunday evening,
June 16th. This meeting was
concluded by singing the hymn
"How Firma Foundation". Mra.
A. Pepper, WMS president, ask-
ed that a few minutes silence be
observedin memory of Mrs.
W. F. McMillan, who was a be-
loved member of the auxiliary
for many years. An offering
was taken which will be sent to
the "In Memoriam. Fund" of the
Huron Presbyterial in memory
of Mrs. McMillan. A. letter was
read by the secretary from Miss
Laura McMillan, saying how
much the family appreciated the
fact that their mother was be-
im,: remembered in -this way.
The Toll call and minutes of the
May meeting were read, also an
appreciation from the Misses
Wager for the kindly welcome
they received from the Egmond-
viile Church. Mrs. Leonard
Strong, Literature Sec., report-
ed sending for 24 associate
members' •cards and envelopes.
Mrs. Lindsay, Christian Citizen -
Ship Gee. spoke on "Guidance".
We should decide what is God's
way for us, and prayer will help
us to decide what is right and
wrong. Mrs. 3. McLachlan re-
ported 9 hospital and 10 calls.
Mrs. E. Stephenson, Associate
Members' Sec., reported a grow-
ing interest among those who
cannot attend the regular meet-
ings. Mrs. A. Houston, Supply
Sec,) said 5 large 'boxes bad
been packed and sent to Toron-
to for overseas, and that '$3 bad
also been sent for a Vacation
School kit. The treasurer's re-
port showed encouraging offer-
ings were being received. The
Baby Band men/bars -and their
mothers are to be entertained.
We were pleased to have the
C G.'I.T. girls affiliate with the
WM.'S. on May 29th. The mem-
bers were reminded about the
invitation to visit Constance an
June 19th and Duff's Ohurdh,
Walton, on June .8th. Prayer
was offered by Mrs.; Lindsay,
and the offering reecived. The
hynin, "Christ for the world we
Sing" was sung. Mrs. E. Cam-
eron, • in the :absence of Mrs.
Semple was in 'charge of the
program. A very enjoyable
duet "Come Ye to Nazareth"
.was sung by Miss Mae Smith
and Mrs. V. Lee. Mrs. EarllPap-
!pie gave an interesting review
of a chapter from the •study
hook dealing with Singapore.
The Christian Church is made
,up of anany churches and the
(Christian people have :faith in
the 'Bib'le to help people to (be-
came good. Hymn 530 was sung
and the meeting closed with the
Mizpah 'Bemledietion. Lunch was
served by Group 3, with Mrs.
Wan. Forrest as !hostess, and
Mrs. A. Chesney lunch conven-
er.

The 70th anniversary of
Duff's United Church, Walton
WMS was rielebrated Saturday
afternoon, June 8th. The Church
was nicely decorated with bou-
quets of •flowers. A prelude of
Music was well rendered with
Mrs. J. Bryans at the piano and
Mrs. di. Brown at the organ. The
president, ,Mrs. Alvin McDonald
opened the meeting by all join-
ing in hymn 259 "We have
heard •a joyful sound". .Mrs. Wil-
bur Turnbull led in prayer, and
the scripture taken from psalm
90 was read by Mrs. D. Watson.
A welcome was extended by
Mrs. A. McDonald to all the
former members who had re-
turned for the occasion to cele-
brate with us, also visiting aux-
iliaries from Moncrieff, Union,
Brussels, Bethel, Winthrop,.
Duff's, +Blyth and Seaforth.
The president gave history •of
the WMS since it was organized
in 1&87. The first officers were
President, Miss Kate Johnston,

In -October 1908 this society
was re -organized and is now

"Faith and Witness" In faith
we are to think of Faith of God.
Faith means confidence, reli-
ance, belief and fidelity, while
witness means to bear testi-
mony and to give evidence. Mrs.
G.lieGavin thanked the speak-
er and asked us to deepen our
faith and so fulfill our work.
Mrs. H, Kirkby paid tribute to
the •members who have passed
on to higher service, who laid
the foundation for us to carry
on the Master's work. Hymn
662 "0 God our help in. ages
Past" was sung in dedication of
these members. :Rev. Thomas
congratulated the members on
achieving their 70th anniver-
sary. Mrs. H. Travis and Mrs.
N. Reid at this time favored with
a duet. The offering was receiv-
ed by Mrs. N. Schade and Mrs.
E. Mitchell, after which Mrs. E.
Radford of Clinton gave a piano
solo and Mrs. A. Smalldon sang.
Mis. A. McDonald expressed
her appreciation to those taking
part and invited them to retire
to the Sunday School room for
a luncheon. The meeting closed
with hymn 252 "In Christ there
is no East or West" and prayer
by Rev. Thomas.

on arriving and 'Mrs. Harvey
Craig was in charge of the reg-
ister.

The church basement was de-
corated in yellow and green col-
ors with numerous bouquets of
flowers. The head table was
centred with a beautifully dec-
orated :three -tiered anniversary
cake and lighted tapers. The ta-
bles were set with appetizing
salad plates, relish dishes and
assorted cookies. Pictures were
taken by Mrs. H. Travis.
The visiting auxiliaries ex-
tended a vote of thanks which
was replied to by Mrs. A. Mc-
Donald. Mrs. McVittie was pre-
sented with a gift on behalf of
the W.M.S.
KIPPEN EAST
The Kippen East W, I. held
their annual picnic at Lions
Park, Seaforth, on June 14th.
About •85 sat down to a ;picnic
supper at 7 o'clock. Sports fol-
lowed witha committee in
