ceived word that her mother,
Mrs. Margaret Hutton, of Kin-
cardine, is a patient in Owen
Sound General and (Marine Hos-
pital, having suffered a fract-
ured hip in a fall. She is in her
89th year.

contracts recently by 'the Ont.,
ario Department of Highways.
Work will commence soon, ac-
cording to the firm's president,
Jos. E. Looby, on an arch cul-
vert on ,the 'Murdock (River at
Rutter, .37 miles south 'of Sud-
bury, and an abutment and •floor
of bridge on rite East River, on
Highway 11, north of Huntsville.
Total ,contract price was over
$200,000.

Town Council Hears
Many Delegations
Seaforth town council held
"delegation'glb” last Thurs-
day evening—when -they met for
(their regular monthly meeting.
Fire 'Chief John 'Scott led; the
parade with an appeal for pay
for the'firemen who accompan-
ied the truck to Mitchell. Then
in rapid succession came groups
"'presenting the agricultural so-
ciety, :the arena (board, North-
side Church on behalf of 'Mait-
land Bank cemetery, and finally
from the legion branch for their
new hall.
All members ' of council were
present with Mayor Dr. McMas-
ter ,presiding. The meeting had
been postponed from the previ-
ous 'Monday. With such a large
'volume of business council will
hold another meeting this week,
en Thursday.
'Councillor H'abkirk told coun-
cil that the vault door had been
billed for $1125 although he had.
;been 'assured the town would get
it 'at the price of "scrap".
Councillor Kellar said the
floor in bhe fireball was unsat-
isfactory and the drain, had been
put jn at the high point leaving
puddles. Council ,agreed to with-
hold payment.
Council agreed to a sugges-
tion of Fire Chief Seott'bhat the
six firemen who went to Mitchell
receive $10.00 each, total $60
for the afternoon. (Mitchell
charged bhe town $150 for the
first hour and $25 for 'en extra
half "'hour when they .came here,
and council will bill them at the
same rate for the 4.34 hours the
truck was in Mitchell on May 7.
'Merton Reid who was ,present
with a 'delegation, asked council
in arranging a deed for'bhe 'le-
gion hall to reserve right of way
for the' bowlers';property, J. E.
Keating said that he had been
on the legion committee in 1945
which had arranged the transfer
and that property had been as-
sessed to legion since that time
and were now in 'peaceful pos-
session'. Councillor Ball said no
strings could be attached to
building permit. Councillor Pleb -
kirk suggested that parties get
together and draw up a friendly
agreement for right of way.
The spring crop of building
permits were passed. Angus Mac-
Lean, residence on former pub-
lic school property, 24 x 44 Leet,
$7000. Ball -Macaulay, cement
block building 70 x 100 feet for
inill, offices, etc. $12,000, to re-
place structure destroyed by
fire. Cities Service, service sta-
tion, $15,000, on Daly property
on Godefieh St. near Main. St.
Councillors said it would be well

erty was 100 feet and more
deep. 'Representatives of com-
pany 'had' been here the previous
Monday to meet council. This
was a re -granting of previous
permit which had expired. Per-

Councillor Sia'bkirk reported
for town property. He said they
were waiting for the spring rush
at dump to get over "before
bringing in a :bulldozer to clean.

Councillors reported that a
new box was needed on the
scavenger's wagon. The new
town offices were expected to
be ready in 10 days. Firemen
are still working on a hose dry
er. There were complaints albout
dividing up purchase of meter.

The meeting opened by singing

West". 'This was followed by
the Lord's Prayer. The scrip-
ture was taken by Marjorie
'C'harters. The hymn, "The
Church's One Foundation" was
sung. Phyllis Lostell led in
prayer. Minutes of last meet-
ing were read and adopted. Roll
call "My favourite character in
the Bible" was then answered.
Mr. Keith Love, president, in-
troduced the guest speaker, Dr.
Semple of l:gmondville, who
gave a most interesting topic.
The business part of the meet-
ing was used to make plans for
the Y. P.'s anniversary which is
on May 26th. The Y. P. will hold
their next meeting on (Monday
evening, May 27th with group E
to bring lunch. Everyone joined
in singing "Tell me the story of
Jesus Games were enjoyed
under the direction of Harold
Parsons. A. delicious lunch was
served by Group D.
Mr. Peter Gridzak has been in
a Sudbury 'hospital with an arm
injury.
