THE PUBLIC
To follow in agreement with surrounding
towns who are swinging to Saturday night
closing, the Seaforth Merchants generally were
agreeable to follow the majority after a vote
was taken, the result being 26 for Friday night
and 19 for Saturday night.
The result of a recent ballot has shown that the
customers are also in accord with Friday night
being open night. The vote was 650 for Friday
and 594 for Saturday. it has been found advis-
able to give Friday night a trial for the coming
months. The exact date of the change will be
announced dater.

Mrs. ]Robert Boyce is visiting
with her daughter and son-in-
law, Mr, and Mrs. Harvey Sper-
ling and babyson, in Toronto.
We extend our sympathy to
the bereaved family of the late
Mr, Robert Miller. Many friends
and relatives from here attended
the funeral service in Exeter on
Monday.
The Easter meeting of the
WMS was held in the church on
Good Friday evening with the
president, Mrs. T. Laing presid-
ing. The programa provided in
the Glad Tidings was [followed
and Mrs. Lloyd ,Sor'sdahl read
the scripture lesson, giving com-
ments and prayer. The roll call
was answered with an Easter
verse and after the offering was
received ]Mrs. Sarah 'Scott of-
fered the dedicatory prayer.
Mrs. T. L. Scott gave interests
highlights of the Synodical
meeting in ,Listowel. Two spe-
cial 'musical numbers were sung
by the male quartette. Mrs. Da-
vid Ritchie, who has since mov-
ed frond (Seaforth to reside with
her son, David, at Lindsay, was
guest speaker using as her sub-
ject "The First Good iFrid'ay".
Words of appreciation to those
Making part were expressed by
Mrs, ,Calder Mc'K'aig and the
meeting was closed with prayer
by Rev. S. 'Kerr.
At the Sunday •afternoon
vice which was well attended,
the infant daughters of Mr. and
rs. Frank Miller and 'Mr. and
Mrs. Eldon Allen were present-
ed for baptism. (Special Easter•
anthem was sung by the choir
with Mrs, T. L. Scott as soloist.
The Marian Ritchie Evening
Auxiliary had as their guests at
their Easter meeting, members
of the McDougall Society of Mit-
chell Presbyterian Church. The
president, Mrs. Lorne Elliott
opened the meeting wibh an Ea-
ster poem, followed with a hymn
ani the roll call which was an-
swered with a verse on the Res-
urrection. (Reports were given
by the secretary and the treas-
urer and business dealt with. Af-
ter a few words of introduction
by the {president the visiting, la-
dies took charge of the program
with Mrs. R. Homuth in the
chair. Mrs. G. Lamont led in de-
votions, closing her meditations
with a poem by Phillips Brooks
and prayer. Interestingg facts
were given by Mrs. F. !Cameron,
Mrs. O'Donnell favored with a
solo "The 'Christ of the Cross"
and was accompanied at the
piano by Mrs, Davidson. The
topic was given by Miss Muriel
Stuart, wising as her thein the
Easter story and its 'signifi-
cance, and the meeting closed
with the Lord's prayer in uni-
son. Refreshments were served
by the 'committee appointed and
a social hour enjoyed Iby all.
Words of appreciation were ex-
pressed by Mrs, Calder McKeig
and Mrs. W. N. Binning.

One Man Dead, Crash Hurts 5
Robert Miller, of R.R. 1, Kirk -
ton, died and five other per-
sons were injured in a car -truck
crash south of Exeter on April
1961i. Mr. Miller was driving a
truck which was in collision with
a oar operated by Alex Hyde of
R.R. 3, Kippen. Mr. Hyde, his
wife, two daughters, Jean. and -
Marjorie and (Inc.1Inez Baden -
ham of Bayfield were injured in
the crash.
