A wedding of interest -to many took
place in Trinity Church, Bayfield, on
Saturday, June I1,Sth, at 'half past
three o'clock when Jean Margaret,
younger 'daughter of Mrs. Woods .and
the late Niniann Wiidridge Woods,

Mr. Robert Harold Middleton, ,Phu.

The ch'urc'h was decorated with 'd'elplh-
iniunt and pink .peonies. Tapers 'burn-
ed on the altar. The ceremony was
performed by the Rector, Rev. W. G.
Bugler, and 'Rev . F. H. Paull, of
Windsor. The 'wedding music was
played by Mrs, IF, H. 'Paull and dur-
ing the signing of the register Mrs,
K. Moorh'ou'se sang "Because," Th -e
bride, who was given in marriage by
her uncle, W.' F. Buchan, of Dunn-
ville, entered the •Churc'h to the
strains 'of the wedding march from
Lohengrin. Her gown was of white
suede lace in rose design over white'
satin, 'fashioned on straight lines with
a short Full train and short 'bolero
with sleeves pointed over the hand.
She wore a sunburst of ,pearls, a fam-
ily heirloom, Her long veil of silk net
;flowed from a coronet of seed pearls
and site carried a shower 'bou'quet of
'Johanna Hill roses and lilrof•the-
valley. Her sister, Miss Lucy R.
Woods, was bridesmaid and wore a
watteau pink frock in crisp silk 'net,
with finely -drawn threads forming a
floral design, made in full skirted sil-
houette with brief [bolero, and an im-
ported Swiss straw hat finely em-
broidered in scroll desing in watteau
blue. She carried Briarcliff roses. Mr.
George Middleton; brother of the
groom was groomsman and the ush-
ers were Mr, Stewart Middleton and
Dr. IE, IP, Lewis. Following She cere-
mony a reception was held at the fa-
mily residence, The bride's mother re-
ceiving in a 'floor length 'gown of
French suede dace in cornflower 'blue
and large navy mohair hat with corn-
flower trim and corsage of Token
roses and lily -of -the -valley. The
groom's mother wore a gown of chry-
santhemum -flowered chiffon over
black satin, a large -hat of 'black mo-
hair with yellow rose trim, grey fea-
ther boa, .and a corsage of Johanna
11411 roses and lilyof-the-valley. Buf-
fet refreshments were served, the
table 'being centred with the cake, on
either side of which burned tapers
and floral decorations in Briarcliff
roses and lily -of -the -valley, The
youii'g couple left on a honeymoon
trip through the Adirondacks, New
York State, and will spend a week at
Lake Placid. The bride travelled in a
navy !blue silk suit with white trim,
white panama hat with navy trine and
matching accessories. On their return
they will reside :in [Port Credit, On-
tario. (Guests were present from Lon-
don, Windsor, Toronto, Dunnville,
Galt, Markham, New Dundee, Cale-
donia, Detroit, Clinton, Goderich .and
Seaforth.
Mr. A, E. Erwin spent the week
end itt Flint, Mich,
Mr. and Mrs. H. Erwin left this
week for their 'home in Akron, 'Ohio,
after spending' the last month in Bay-
field.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Weston of Detroit
are guests of Miss L. Weston this
week.

A very 'pleasant night -was 'spen't at

Beatty Tuesday when 'upwards of
sixty guests were entertained, spon-
sored by the Library -board. The ev-
ening
wening was spent in music .and singing.
Mr. Harvey McGee of IAtuburn, Mr.
and Mrs. Peters were thief among
the singers. Atter the program a very
generous 'helping of strawberries with
,cream and cake, with tea or 'coffee, in
fact a strawberry festival. Several
guests attended from Auburn: The
Board are to be complimented.

With an attendance of 313 member's
and 'twenty 'visitors ,the Kippen .East
W. I. held their iJune meeting at the
home of Mrs. W. ,Kyle. The singing
of the 'Ode and the Lord's prayer re-
peated in unison opened the meet-
ing. Mrs. Traquair gave the 'Bi'ble
reading followed by a short poem,
"'Jane Beauty," read by Mrs. IVat'ley.
Mrs. 'Kyle read interesting history of
the 'farm and Miss G. Tremeer read

lowed by the report of the .morning
session of tate .annual meeting held et
Thames Road Church', -by Mrs, Doig
and Mrs. Clark gave a splendid re-
port o'f the .afternoon 'session. The
roll call was the name of 'try favorite
teacher -to which nearly all respond-
ed. Mrs. ,IJo'hn 'cairns of Brucefield
favored by singing Bonny 'Mary of
Argyle and responded with "Take Me
Back to Dear 'Old Childhood" -as an
encore. Both songs were very much
appreciated, The motto, 'The Great-
est School For the human race is the
hone," was given 'by Mrs. W. Mar-
tin. Mrs. M. Cooper read a short
poem '"Childhood Days," ,and the cur-
rent events by 'Mrs. E. Chappell were
quite interesting. A paper on (Foot-
wear was read ,by -Mrs. W. 'Parker,
followed by the piano solo, "Medita-
tion," played by Mrs. John McGreg-
or. The debate "Resolved that the
radio is more beneficial to us than our
current literature was ably argued by
Miss Dinnen and Miss Watt for the
affirmative and Mrs. H. Caldwell and
Mrs. G. McLean for the negative.
While the judges were making a. de-
cision the sides captained by Mrs. H.
Caldwell and Mrs. W. McGregor en-
joyed a spelling match, with Mrs.
Caldwell's side winning. Rev. Mr.
C'hand'ler and Mr. T. -N. Forsythe,
judges in the debate, now gave the
decision in favor of the affirmative
;but by only a very narrow margin. A
rote of thanks was given to Mrs.
Kyle and the singing of the national
anthem closed the meeting. The next
meeting in 'July will be .at the home
of Mrs, Morley Cooper. It was decid-
ed to have our annual picnic to Bay-
field on July 9th. A social 'half hour
was spent while lunch was served.
Rev. Hicks of London conducted
the service in Kippeu Church on Sun-
day last and delivered a good temper-
ance sermon.
Miss -Chandler of Blenheim spent
the week end with her• parents at She
manse.

quite poorly,
