Township Council.—
The Council snet as two o'dtock on
Saturday, May 218th, as a Court of
Revision •on the assessment roll,
There were only two appeals, on each
of which the court took action 'by re-
ducing the assessment, and the roll
was adopted as the Revised Assess-
ment Roll for 1933, s'uhject to any ap-
peals therefrom to the Judge, The
Council then proceeded with outer
'business. Minutes of previous meet-
ing adopted. The Clerk was instruct-
ed to notify the manager of the Bell
Telephone Co. that they had no com-
plaint 'or suggestions in regard to
work done on the trunk line through
the municipallity. The clerk was in-
structed to make application to the
H.E.P.C. for .the cancellation of tate
following contracts: R. W. Gibbing's.
Charlotte Robinson and H. H'arbung
The Road Supt. was given authority
to convert the old moveable bin now
unused, into a shanty for keeping
tools, etc. The Clerk -was authorized
to draft a resolution protesting against
the proposed abolition of the county
council by the Ontario Legislature.

Mr. Roy Rose, -who has been can -
fined in the Isolation 'Hospital, Lou-
don, with scarlet .fever, has returned
home. We all wish him a speedy re-
covery,
BAYFIELD
A gloom was over the whole vill-
age on Friday evening when it learn-
ed of the sudden death of Fired Sturg-
eon. Fred was the eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. .Edward 'Sturgeon and was
•born in 'Bayfield, 'Oct. 219th, 119117. He
went to Public School in Bayfield and
later to Clinton Collegiate. Fred ,had
always 'been. a ;popular boy and play-
ed football 'both with Clinton Cbl-
legiate and Bayfield teams, also was
a keen fiisherman and could always
direct anglers td the spot where the
big -fish ,were to he caught. He also
was a strong swimmer and oarsman.
On Friday night ill company with
other players he was at a :practice
;game at Clinton and took a heart at-
tack but managed to get home before
the end carie. Surviving are .his .sor-
rowing Mother and father, 3 sisters,
Mrs. Harvey of Landon, Helen and
Jean at home and two brothers Stuart
and Gerald, 13.ayfield. The sympathy
of the whole community goes out to
the bereaved family. Funeral services
were held on 'Monday from his late
home. 'Phe service was conducted by
his pastor, Rev. Mr. Gale assisted by
Rev. Bugler 'and Rev. G. Peddie, The
pallbearers were F. Weston, G. At-
kinson, C. Parker; W. Westlake, ',H.
McLeod, K. IGemiehardt. Interment
in the Bayfield cemetery.
Mr. and. tMrs, J. McLean of Duluth
were guests of Mr. and 'Mrs, W. 'Fer-
guson this week.
The Misses Fairburn, 'Drouin, Fen
vette and Morley, .teachers of Detroit,
spent the week end et their cottages
in the village.

marriage and presented her with a

was spent in games after which a
