TUCKERSMITH
The Tuckersmith Ladies' Club. held
their annual picnic on the grounds of
S. S. No. 6, on Wednesday afternoon
Last. The weatherman sent a few
showers to level the dust, and as
sports could not be held outside, ev-
eryone came into the school and a
good old-fashioned spelling match was
held, with Mrs. R, Fear, convenor of
the Social Committee, as teacher. Mr.
S. Whitmore was the winner, even ov-
en over the teen-age generation.
The following races were held:
Children under 5 years, won by 'Amy
Walters and Freddie Pepper; girls, 6
to 8, E. Johns. and Loile Crich; boys
and girls ring race, Donald Tully;
teen-age ring race, Irene Garrett, M.
Crich, M, Fear; rolling pin race, S.
Whitmore, A. Bauerman, A. Matheson,
Maggie and Jiggs race, C. Whitmore,
E. O'Brien.
Supper was served in the school,
with all the scholars, young and old,
in their seats. A good time was re-
ported.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Townsend attended
the Salkeld picnic at Harbour Park,
Goderich, on Saturday last,
Mrs. F. Pepper visited with Mea -
ford friends last week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Layton visited with
Mr. and Mrs, H. Crich over the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Fear visited with
their daughter, Mrs, Hamather, at
Dorchester last week,
Mr, and Mrs. Walter Munday and
family of Los Angeles, Cal„ visited
With Mr. and Mrs, Ray Fear last
week. Mrs. Fear accompanied them
to Brussels and spent the week -end
with the ladies' mother, Mrs. Mary
Sperling.

The Y.P.U. meeting Friday night
was under the direction of the Mis-
sionary convenor, Miss Alma Tre-
wartha. Mr. Bill Herbert read the
lesson. A missionary story was read
by Miss Ruth Potter. A piano and
violin selection was given by Miss
Muriel and Mr. Reggie Miller. A
couple of items of business was then
conducted by the president, Mr. Nor-
man Trewartha.
Mr, John Grigg visited in Toronto
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Orval Rodgers enter-
tained a number of their friends and
relatives last Wednesday evening at
the christening of their little daugh-
ter, Elizabeth Anne Frances.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Manning and
family, and his mother, of Ridgetown,
were week -end visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. John S. Watson.
Mr. and Mrs. Webster McNaugh-

ldimins of Port Arthur, visited recent-
