This is a beautiful, but solemn ser-
vice. Mr. Herb, Cox and Mr. Reid
Torrance are the new members fil-
ling the place of Mr. Bert Cox and
Mr. Fred Pickard. The first practice
on the new play, Safety First," was
held at the home of J. S. Lockhart
on Monday night, This promises to
be a splendid play.
Mr. Bert Harris has bought, the
farm of William McDonald on the 7th
concession, and will move in the hear
future. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald will
move to a farm near Wroxeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Dal. Gardiner en-
tertained about fifty of their friends
on Friday night. Cards and dancing
were the highlights of the evening.
The ladies provided a bountiful lunch.
Miss Verna Picot and Miss Muriel
Hudie were visiting friends in Kin-
cardine.
Mr. Beet Harris has bought the
farm lately occupied by Wm. McDon-
ald, 7th concession.

ily with you, and we will promise you

week -end with Mr. and Mrs. C. Hal-
stead in Stratford.
Miss E. Bowey has been spending
a week with her brother, Mr. L. Bow-
ey of Exeter, who has been ill. His

is improving.

the past week at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. R. Hastings. She was

loving hearts," first scripture reading
by Mrs. C. Haugh, followed by pray-
er by Mrs. Brock. Second scripture
reading by Mrs. A, McQueen. After
singing hymn 511, Mrs. J. Thompson
gave a temperance reading. Prayers
of thanksgiving' by the president, and
Mrs. McQueen. Mrs. A. McQueen
read a letter _,from the Presbytery
Christian Stewardship and finance to
see about our allocation. • After the
readings from the Study book the
meeting closed by singing hymn 402,
after which the World's Day of Pray-
er Service was held.
The World's Day of Prayer was
held in the United Church Sunday
School room last Friday .with Mrs. C.
Haugh as leader, and Mrs. T. .Cairns
at the piano. Theme• was "Christ; the
Son of the Living God." From a small
,beginning a few years ago this
schemeof united prayer has reached
world-wide • proportions. Services
which include all Protestant denom-
inations follow a common form which
was designed this year by Miss Mabel
Shaw of Central Africa. Voicing the
appeal of womankind for world unity,
better social conditions, the Christian
Church for greater missionary ef-
forts, Temperance Worker's commun-
ity youth and the Royal family..
The programs were sent to, the
shut-ins so they too would. have the
privilege of mingling their prayers
with those of the other women
throughout the world. Those taking
part in • the service:: here were, Mrs.
Rev. W. A. 'Bremner, Mrs. W. Rat-
tenhuey, Mrs. Hazelwood, Mrs. Alex,
Broadfoot, Mrs. R. Allan, Mrs. J. Be
