The regular meeting of the Y.P.U.
was held March 29th with a goodly
attendance. Carl Radford in the
chair. The meeting opened'' with a
hymn and Rev. Mr. Gardiner led in
prayer. The minutes of the last
]neeting were read by the secretary,
Ruth Lyon. Earn Cartwright read. the
scripture losson. Miss Norma Snell
and , Miss Hazel Hoggart favoured
with g guitar duet, The topic was
then read by Lloyd Adams, A duet
was rendered by Mini, 5lrgeSt AdatpS
and Mrs.'John Scott; accompanied by
p. Mrs. J. Armstrong at the piano. Dur-
ing the taking of the offering Donald
tVarhem favoured the aUtiienee with
an a000rdian Selection. A very nice

Was given.by Mrs. Edwin Woods. The
• meeting Closed with'a hymn and re-
peating the Mizpah benediction.
Miss Elizabeth Mains returned to
her home last Saturday after spend-
ing the winter months with her sis-
ters, Jean and Mrs. Charles Throop,
in Chicago. Jean accompanied her
home too, for a visit. •
We are sorry to hear that Donald
Warhem . is leaving the community
and nioving to Hensall.
The annual pie social was held in
'Community Hall on Friday evening,
March 27th, when a very pleasant
time was spent. The supper was ex-
cellent, and 'the program likewise,
which was a comedy -drama, presented
` by ,The WoheIo Players of ,Hensall
United Church. This play was really
.enjoyed by all present, each one in
. the act performing. his or her part
well. The•music and singing between
acts was also given by the Hensall
people. The crowd was not as large
as sometimes and those not attend-
ing certainly inigsed a .treat,
Miss L. Young has returned after
spending the winter with Ridgetowh
and London friends.
Mrs, (br.) Medd and Miss Josie of
London visited the former's sisters
last week, Mrs. J. Tamblyn and Mrs.
J.' Elsley.
Mr.:, and Mrs. Milton Heoper of St.
Marys visited .with. Mrs, Trooper's
parents recently, Mr. and Mrs. James
Easley, Mrs. EIsley is quite ilI with
'scarcely any improvement in her eon-
dition. Her many friends wish her.

riston, where he has lived fel; some

TUCKERSMITH
The death occurred on Monday at
his hone in Tuekersmith near Sea -
forth, of Louis Devereaux, a highly
esteemed and life-long resident of
this district. He was the son of the
late Edward Devereaux and Margaret
Dorsey and was born and spent all
his life on the farm on which he died,
He was 67 years of age and had been
in.. ill health for the past year and a
half. Mr, Devereaux was twice mar.
vied, his first wife being Helena Dur-
kin, of London, who died In 1910. He
is survived by his wife, formerly Miss
Phoebe O'Leary, one. son, Arthur, and
two sisters, Miss Tillie Devereaux and
Mrs. E. J. Carney of Durand.
The funeral took place on Wednes-
day at 9.30 a.m. from St. James''
Catholic church,. Seaforth, of which
he was 'a devout member.. Requiem
high mass was sung by the pastor,
Rev. Father Hussey,.and interment in
St. Jaynes' cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. John Quigley enter-
tained a number' of their friends to
dinner and cards recently.
Mr. and Mrs, Casey Way have rent-
ed the Shipley farm and are busy
moving from their Tuekersmith home
this. week. Mrs. Way is the only
daughter of Mr, . and Mrs. A. Pepper
of Tuekersmith.

brother, Mi. Ed. ,Farquhar, to Hen -
sail on Tuesday where they attended.

FOR EASTER BREAKFAST --Line small 'muffin
tins with Swift Breakfast Bacon. Drop an egg in
centre of each. Sprinkle with salt and bake in hot
oven until eggs are set and bacon browned. ` Serve
with toast and bacon curls.
FOR EASTER DINNER -Place Ovenized Ham in
water in covered roaster, allow 25 minues to ib,.
Then brown (uncovered) in hot oven for 20 min-
utes, basting with strained honey. Cook and chop
fresh Spinach. Mix with 1-2 cup cream sauce,
1-4 tsp. nutmeg and mold for nests. For biscuits
use (chick cut out), we will furnish pattern. Add
1-2 cup grated cheese to your biscuit dough, roll
about 1-4 inch thick. Cut out chicks, place in nests,
and bake.
