On Friday •evening last about el-
even o'clock Mrs: Davidson was
awakened ,by the falling of piastre
and gettingup to investigate she dis-
covered that -the south wing of her,
h9use was -afire: A hurry call 1vas
sent out to the neighbors, who speed-
ily responded. It was 'thought at
first that: the house was doomed but
.fortunately one of, the neighbors, Mr.
J. McDonald, hadbrought, along a
fire extinguieber:'an'd the use of this
checked the flames somewhat until a
bucket brigade • was , forme and a
steady stream of'water directed to

It, and after. a strenuous fight the'
fire was brought under control. The
strange part of it was that this wing,
had not F1ad a fire in it for years, it
not being in use and no One had
been in it for days., Tt is thought
e
that perhaps rats or squirtls n a y
have carried inflammable material
into the partitio,n where the fire or-
iginated, which became ignited in
souse way. Anyway, there, -was the
fire, no doubt" about it, a though the
origin is a mystery. Mrs. 'Davidson

windshied, his 'face and. -head being.
badly cut.. He was immediately tak-
en' to a doctor. The -front wheel or
the• Ford truck was taken off. - Mr.
Dun)iar's ear was badly srimshed up..
Ile claimed he did not see- the other
car and owned it was his fault, Mr.
Dunbar was not .hurt in any way.
