It was April that came in like a
`bion,

Well, now that the Easter storm is.
xlver we may look for spring in real
earnest.

The new gasoline tax will bear the
hardest on those who do a lot of
needless and useless joy riding. This
-is just, those who use the highways
most should pay most for the use
of them.

The Wetaskiivin (Alta.), Timis
last week commenced its twenty-
ninth year, the first issue being pub-
lished Mar. 22nd, '1901. The Times
.-tIeredok is published by illi•. V, C. French, a
former Clinton'boy, son of Mrs, F,
French of town, and he learned the
printing business in the New Era
office, under the guidance of Mr.
Robert Holmes. The Times is a new-
syi well -printed paper and serves the
-community in which it is published
• efficiently. Mr. French is well -
"known amongst newspaper men both.
•east and west, -having served as.pres-
iident of the Canadian Weekly News-
paper Association for 'a term and on
• the executive many times. Twenty-
eight years looks like callow youth
to the newspapers of the east but it
counts more in the newer west. In.
commenting on the occasion The
' Times says:
"To us it is of particular interest
to know that The Times is the 'only
paper in Western Canada which has
been published for 28 consecutive
• years by the same owner and manag-
er. We do not snake this statement
in the spirit of boastfulness, but
rather to emphasize the Loyalty and
generous support we have received
• from the citizens of Wetaskiwin and
community during all these years, as
it was only through their generous
• support that we have been able td
carry on."
