After a lapse of six years lawn
tennis was again started here on
Monday evening when the first
games were played • on the new
courts. The wet weather which de•
layed their making had the beneficial
effect of packing the earth together
and gave the surface of the new
courts a much harder and faster
shape than was anticipated. The
appearance of the :courts has been
improved by the erection of a trellir
back stop screen on the south side.

beginning of the week for Toronto,
where they ,intend to' reside in fu-
ture. Mr. and Mrs. Hawke -will be
much missed in •Clinton, especially
in Ontario street United church,
in which they were both active
workers. But they always 'were
ready and willing workers where-
ever they were needed. Mr,: Hawke
has been chaplain of the Huron
County' Home for the past ten
years and his services there iyere
appreciated and will be missed.
