Miss Nina Herbert of Mitchell vis- ited blends in this vicinity one day 'last week. Mr. Len, Talbot has purchased a new threshing machine. -Mn. Clifford Scotchmere of Detroit was a week -end visitor under the parental roof. Mr. Joe Wild was the guest of friends in Winghtne ' one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Metcalfe, and Mary and Mr. Thos. McDonald of Lcindon, Mrs. It Woods, Irene and Lorne and Miss Charlotte Johnson of St. Helens and Mrs. Carriere and Marguerite of Toronto, attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Campbell on Thursday, August 14th. Dr. Albert Aikenhead of Calgary and Dr. Wm. Aikenhead of Toronto visited friends ht the vicinity for a few days. Mrs. Jean Campbell, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed resi- dents of Stanley township for many yenta, passed away on Thuredase August 7th, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John Moffat, of Moose Jaw. Sask,, with whom she had been living for several :Vent". She had been in failing health for several months. The remains were brought from the West by her son, Dan, and after the funeral service at the residence of her son, Tom, on the old farm on the London road, were enterred in Baird's Cemetery on Thursday, August 14th. The deceased was the daughter of the late Thomas Baird, and the last survivor of a family of eleven. She was the widow of Peter Campbell, who predeceased her by 36 years She was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1843 and when nine years old came to 'this country with her parents. After a short stay near Galt, they came to Stanley: township, where they settled. After her Marriage to Peter Campbell._ she lived for a short time at Granton. They then moved to Clinton and there they lived till the year 1882, when they removed to the farm. Lot 22, 3rd concession, Stanley... After her husluind'e death she resided on the farm .for a num- ber of yeers and the moved to Clin- ton with he; daughter, May, where they lived for several years, until her daughter 'married. Since that time she had spent most of her time in the West, with her two daughters. She was a Capable and conscientuous woman, and a kind and obliging friend and neighbour. Baird, Thos. B, Baird, Hugh Gilmour, Walter Mof- fat and_peter Moffat.
