been spending a fortnight with re-

who have been staying some time
with the lady's another, Mrs. Rods-
way, returned' with Mr. VanLoon td
their home at I:lagersville on Sat-

LONDESBORO
The regular monthly meeting of
the Woman's Institute will be held
in the community hall on Thursday
afternoon, Oct. Oth, at 2.30. The
Auburn and Clinton branches will
be the guests of the local branch and
supply the program, which promises
to be quite interesting. Refresh-
ments will be served by the mem-
bers of the Londesboro Institute.
The W.M.S. of the United Church
held their regular meeting in the
United church on Wednesday after-
noon of last week with the presi-
dent, Mrs. (Rev.) Gardener, presid-
ing. After the routine business had
been disposed of the meeting was
left in charge of Mrs. T. Adams,
captain ,01. group No. 2. The follow.
ing took part in the program: Mrs,
F. Shobbrook, Mrs. (Rev.) Garden-
er, Mrs. J. Scott, Mrs. T. Adams,
Miss B. Scott, Miss L. Garrett and
Miss Beth Shobbrook, Meeting dos-
ed with prayer by Mrs. Gardener, af-
ter which a splendid Iunch was
served by the group in charge.
Mrs, Wm. Brumly, Sr„ we are
sorry to state, is quite ill at present
with slight hopes of her recovery.
Mrs. E. Crawford, Mrs. A. • Vells;
Mrs, H. Adams, who have all been
quite ill with the flu, are now on
the mend and able to be out again,
Miss{ Jennie Cowan, north of
Blyth, spent the week -end at the
home of her sister, Mrs, Robt Town-

and Mrs. C. Josling spent a day at
Niagara Falls' recently.
Quite aonumber of men are em-
ployed with the building, of the new
bridge over, the river just south of
the village, which necessitates a
detour around a block. There are
also two small bridges being built
north of the village, with small de-
tours. They will, however,' soon be
completed. and ready for traffic a-
gain.
Mr. and Mss. ,F. Hall of the 13th
concession of Hullett have moved to
the village and are settling in• the
residence of Miss E. Lyon.
Mr. Geo. McCall, who recently had
his tonsils removed in the Listowel
Hospital, is convalescing at his
home here. We wish hint it speedy
recovery.

Wm. Brumly, Sr., who was quite ill
with pneumonia, was removed to
Clinton Hospital. At last reports he
was somewhat better.
On Tuesday morning of this week
when Mr, Bert Flunking of the 13th
concession of Hullett went for his
cows he was surprised to see three
deer in his pasture field. As soon
as they were aware of him they
scampered over the fence into his
wood lot.
